Violet POV
I get woken up to my name coming from behind my door. Crawling out of bed I open it to find my father.
"Good morning sweetheart, can I ask you a question?" He smiles.
"Me, first, What time is it?"
"It's 5:30am, I have a trip to Seattle today. My question is, why were you and Vince holding hands at the mall yesterday? I got a call that my daughter is walking around with a new man and everyone is so curious in this small town." the color drains from my face. GREAT!
"Kevin is back in town. I asked him to be my pretend boyfriend for the day so Kevin would leave me alone. Clearly, it didn't work because he showed up last night. Vince took care of it but I don't doubt we will see him again." I say making my way back to my bed.
"Okay that's all I needed. Go back to sleep, I will see you in a few days. Love you kid." my dad says
"Love you too, drive safe." I answer half asleep.
…..
* Feeling a hand rub up and down my thigh I groan to be left alone.
"Good morning my little Luna." I open my eyes to find Vince staring at me.
"Hi, why are you in my bed?"
"Would you rather me sleep on the floor?" he chuckles at me.
"No, sleep in your own bed." I state the obvious.
"Baby, I am in my bed," kissing my forehead, "Come on, let's get going, we have a lot to do today." He says letting the blanket fall off his body. Oh my! He was shirtless in my bed!
I can't take my eyes off his muscles while he stretches.
"Like what you see my little mate" he called to me
BOOM the door burst open and there is my father ready to kill.*
"Dad, NO!" I scream sitting up in my bed completely alone. These dreams are starting to give me mini heart attacks
Vince POV
Another dream about Violet had me jumping awake. I need to turn 18 already. I look at the time 6:30am, time for a run.
Normally I would be doing patrol runs in the morning to check on our night shift warriors. I need to keep myself sharp and get Victor back at full strength.
Changing into short I head out into the autumn breeze. Mr. Beck's car is gone already, I wonder where he went so early. I run a few blocks before the stores start appearing in the distance.
Vic I call my wolf. Want to try to shift?
We can try but I am still weak. It's going to hurt, I can't help with your pain and try to shift. He answers excited but worried.
Let's try. We have a few weeks until we're 18 and if Violet isn't our mate then we need to go home.
I jog to the forest that's behind the store, running another few minutes to make sure there are no cameras and no humans are near me.
Whenever you are ready. Taking my shorts off, I prepare for the pain.
Victor comes forward, I feel my eyes change while he looks through my eyes, ready.
I feel the pain immediately, I fall to my knees, I try to hold on feeling the hair grow on my body but my bones aren't shifting.
Victor I can't take it. I told him.
Hold on, we're close. He pushes hard.
"AHHHHH" I scream out, gripping the twigs and dirt under my hands. I collapse feeling Victor retreat into the back of my mind.
Vic you okay? Breathing deep with the dull ache over my body. I get no response. Fuck. I get up, put my shorts on and walk towards the stores again, I find the parking lots filling up with cars. Hopefully no one heard my screams. I start jogging home when I see Kevin's truck out front. Violet.
I run as fast as I can, jumping over their backyard fence to the basement door. Running up to Violet's room, busting in the door.
"Violet?" I call out to her, causing her to jump awake.
"What Vince!" she answers panicked. Seeing she's okay, I hug her tight.
"Sorry, Kevin's truck is out front and I freaked out," letting her go.
"Why are you all sweaty and muddy?" Her eyes go wide, "Please tell me you did not beat up someone," pinching her nose and shaking her head.
"No no, I went for a run this morning. Did he knock on the door?" She shakes her head in response.
"Well he wasn't in his truck, I went through the back door and didn't see him in the yard." looking out her window, I don't see him.
I walk downstairs to check all the rooms and doors. Where is he?
I find a note on the kitchen table 'Vince, I will be gone for a few days. Here is some money. I want you to look for a job while I am gone.'
Let's show Kevin what he can't have. Vic says weakly.
Are you okay? I ask him.
I overdid it Vince, there's a block that I'm not strong enough to break through yet .
Okay just rest.
I make my way upstairs to Violet's room still open from me barging in. I push it open, finding her stretching to wake up. WOW
She sees me staring. "Is he gone?" I snap out of my trance.
"No, I can't see him from inside the house and I didn't see him outside when I came in. Get ready, we're going out." I tell her, leaving to get myself cleaned up.
Finding Mary in the hallway confused at why I was screaming at 9am.
"Sorry Mary, I saw Kevin's truck outside when coming back from my run and I wanted to make sure you guys were okay. We are going out for brunch, would you join us?" I ask.
"Sure thing. Is Vi awake?" I nod.
Half an hour later everyone is ready. I am sitting on the couch waiting for them to come down.
"Vince, can you check all the doors and windows?" Mary asks from upstairs.
"I will double check them." I start in the basement with the back door, adding a piece of tape to it just in case it gets opened from outside. I check all the windows upstairs and sit back down on the couch.
"Did you get the basement?" Violet asks, coming down the stairs in tight dark jeans and a loose purple hoodie.
I bet there is nothing under that hoodie Vic lust at her.
Ignoring him I answer her, "Yes and all the windows up here. Did you check upstairs?" I stand up as she makes it to the bottom with a nod. Mary followed behind her.
"Violet, I don't know if you want to continue our mall mission or not, but Mrs. Beck," turning towards Violet's mom. "I ask permission to hold Violet's hand in public in case Kevin is watching." Violet looks to her mom for the answer.
"I think that is more up to Vi than me" we both stare at Violet and she holds her hand out.
Victor purrs at the contact, what a big puppy.
"Don't forget to lock the door." Mary says walking out the door towards the car. The truck is still sitting on the road.
I stop Violet after she locks the door, "Don't get angry." She looks at me confused. I look at her lips and lean in placing my lips softly on hers.
Violet POV
My mom shouts to lock the door as she makes her way off the porch and to the car. I huff, turning around and locking it. Vince stops me before I walk to the car.
"Don't get angry." I look at him confused. Angry about wh-
He kisses me before I could even finish my thought. He's kissing me. I slowly pull away and look at him feeling the blush hit my cheeks.
"Sorry, I… I just" He stutters out. He's cute when he's speechless.
I raise my hand, "I would've liked a little more heads up, you're lucky my mom has 15 plants on the porch and didn't see that." I chuckle, grabbing his hand and pulling to the car.
"What took you so long?" my mom looks at us for an explanation.
"I was trying to get her to choose where to eat, which is impossible. Could you pick Mary?" Vince answers like he had that ready.
She thinks for a second, "How about Wolf Den?" looking to us for approval.
"I haven't been there in years!" I cheered.
"Sure, where is that at?" Vince asked curiously.
"It's about 30-40 minutes away. I promise the ride is worth it." I look at him in the rearview mirror. Getting a nod in approval.
