Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: New Home

VINCE POV

"Okay Okay. My parents are dead. I have been on my own since then. (technically not lying) I have taken good care of myself. I just want to leave and get back to my life." I answer, Victor feeling upset at the mention of our parents.

"Vince, I am sorry for your loss. You came in with a bullet wound and were poisoned. If you can't find someone to take you in, I can't let you leave. I don't want to have to call the authorities but if we can't find someone, I will have to." Dr. Cooper says.

I can feel my eyes flash black so I quickly sit and look down and push Victor back.

Who is he to order us around? Victor growls at me. Victor, calm down. He doesn't see us as Alpha, he's human. Just a child who was going to be in charge of 300+ people. I tell him and he mumbles back at me.

I look up to see Violet staring at me. She calms me with her small smiles. I just shrug. "I don't know what to tell you. I turn 18 in less than 2 months. I will not go into one of those shelters. I am not helpless. I understand my condition coming in was not the best representation of my capabilities. I still don't remember what happened. I like hiking so maybe I got shot walking in the forest and was left to die. I can't tell you." I responded.

Mr. Beck breaks the awkward silence that filled the room. "Dr. Cooper, what if we took him in? Until he was 18. Could you release him to us?" Steve says looking at his wife who just nods in agreement.

"If Vince agrees and you have a way to keep him put until 18. I would gladly sign him out into your care. You do have a nurse at home so she could watch for any signs of regression or memories coming back." Dr. Cooper answers, smiling at Violet. I stand next to her not liking his affection towards her.

"Would you really do that?" I ask, looking past him to Mr. Beck.

"We have a room in the basement, it would need to be cleaned out. There will be rules and you will have to be enrolled in school for your senior year. Find a job." He firmly says shifting his eyes between Violet and me.

"I thought you said until I was 18?" I questioned.

"Well, if this next two months goes well. I don't see why you can't have a safe place to stay while helping out around the house to earn a stay. I expect you to respect the rules and everyone in the house." He looks at Violet.

"Of course sir. Respect is my middle name." I say looking at Violet.

"Vi, is there anything you would like to say or talk about?" Her mom questions her silence.

"No, I think it's a great idea and I can even tutor you, if you need it." she says, smiling up at me.

"Okay. I will go get the paperwork." Dr. Cooper says while leaving the room. I nod.

"I appreciate the opportunity to live with you and I will not let you down. I will be out of your hair as soon as I can." I say to everyone in the room.

How are we going to get revenge on our parents if you're living with this family? Victor yells at me.

We need our strength back Victor. We can't even shift right now. How do you expect us to go through whoever is running the pack and Griffin? I bark back at him.

Fine but keep in mind that we will find our mate soon and if we aren't living in a pack, how do we know we will find her? Victor smirks back.

Once we are Alpha again. We will stop at nothing to find our destined mate, I promise. Just get your strength back. We should mask our scent as soon as you are strong enough to hold it. I don't want to be seen as a filthy rogue. Victor just huffs and falls into the back of my mind.

"Okay, Mr. and Mrs. Beck, I just need a signature from the both of you and then one from you Vince." Dr. Cooper comes in with the release form.

We pulled up to a light brown two story house. Not the pack house but better than nothing I think filling out the car. Walking into the front door to find a flight of stairs to the right, where Violet runs up as soon as she gets in the door, and a spacey living room to the left. A couch, loveseat and a recliner all facing a large tv hung on the wall with the stairs behind it. I slowly walk further into the living room finding an 8 seat dining table, two large glass doors that look to go out on a deck and the kitchen to follow.

"Mrs. Beck, where is your bathroom?" I ask politely.

"Please call me Mary, dear. There are three bathrooms; the master bedroom has one, one in the hallway upstairs next to Violet's room and the door to the left of the basement stairs in the kitchen." She answers.

"Thank you, Mary." I find my way to the kitchen and find the stairs and the bathroom. I don't have to use it, I just need a minute to collect myself. I wash my face and walk out the bathroom to find Mr. Beck is sitting at the breakfast bar.

He stands, "Want to look at your room?" He asked. I nod and follow him down the stairs. There's what looks like a gaming room/second living room with a bar lining the right wall, poker and pool table. Plain eggshell white walls with a few hand painted gaming accessories. He catches me looking at the bar. "That's off limits." pointing to the bar. I just nod in agreement.

Not like I can get drunk without drinking the whole bar I chuckle to myself.

The room that is meant for me is in the back far left corner of the basement next to a door that leads to their backyard. The room is filled with boxes, an old desk, bed frame and mattress against the wall.

"The desk and mattress have been down here for about 2 years, you can use them. These boxes need to be stacked to give you more room. As for the back door here, curfew is 10pm on weekdays even if school is out. Mary and I go to bed around 9:30pm, we just ask you to knock on our door when you get home so we don't have to worry about you. Weekends let's start with 11pm until we have that line of trust. You can come and leave through this door. Just let us know when you are going and by that I mean walk up the stairs, do not shout from the basement. I'll let you get started with your room. Once you're done come up and we'll get you sheets and everything else. Dinner should be done by 6:30pm. Have fun!" He slaps my shoulder and climbs the stairs.

An hour later, I have the bed set up in the left corner of the room. The desk is placed in the only spot it goes, wedged between the bed and wall. With the boxes stacked in the corner across from the bed. I hear Violet call me up stairs. Making my way up the stairs, I peek out the door to their large backyard which thankfully backs up into a forest. "If only I could shift." I say to outloud and Victor whines to agree.
