Chapter 16 - The Beginning of All Troubles

"Albert is not getting involved in this no matter what!" Xavier's voice was rang like a warning. He didn't want his only son to become a part of the worlds wrath.

The Hemsworth head and his subordinates were all gathered for a quick meeting. Xavier and his team where sorting ways to get their hands on the chip that was with the Community of Deeds.

The community was formed by a group of government officials who wanted to get their hands on the underworld leaders. However, when the news about a chip containing information about the black market business and mafia spread, the underworld was in a havoc.

The chip or also called the "Interpol log" was a big threat to everyone. The Regis. Hemsworth and Serpents were the first to get information regarding the plans the COD had against them.

The three heads of each family gathered around and enlightened the others warning them not to do anything without permission.

"Don't act recklessly!"

"Everyone needs to make sure you lay low for sometime"

"Be careful with those who you do business with"

Everyone was warned and hence the Mafia's went silent for a couple of days. A week had passed and the investigation held by the COD was coming to its end.

However, one morning the COD crime centre received a call to respond to a homicide at Wellborn High Street that a female victim had been shot and killed. The detectives arrived at the scene and were notified by the initial responding officer that the victim was dead when he arrived and that nothing had been moved and altered. They had also set up a perimeter and established a crime scene log to make sure nobody left or entered the scene.

Detective Aaron walked into the crime scene, under the police tape, to face a group of police crowded around a solitary body on the ground, with three distinct gun shots in the shape of a triangle around her heart. The victim was identified as Sierra Collen, a 34 year old from Manhattan.

She had a pale complexion with fair hair and perfectly shaped red lips. There was no sign of any marks on her body to indicate a struggle; she was placed in a perfect position on the ground, her hands resting perfectly on her stomach, as if the murderer had placed her in that position on purpose. The diamond shaped marking with blood beside the body caught eye of every officer present at the crime scene. It was time they caught this killer before he struck again.

Detective Aaron, ruffled his thick black hair and walked out of the crime boundary. He looked around as his sharp green eyes scanned the area carefully.

He dusted of the invisible sand particles from his brown leather jacket and walked towards his car pulling out a cigarette. He took in a long puff and blew it out after inhaling the toxic smoke burning his lungs lightly.

He had seen the diamond shape before. Not him alone, both the COD and Mafia were well aware who the symbol represented. He knew who he had to question and this time he was definitely not backing off. The man he was looking for was none other than the head of Serpents, Jacob Carls.

When Detective Aaron barged into the office of Jacob Carls, he found suspiciously silent . The only person stand beside a revolving chair that faced the large glass window was Jacob's personal secretary.

"Detective why don't you take a seat first?" said a man in his stentorian voice.

He waved a hand at his assistant and turnined around in his chair finally facing his audience.

Jacob was known to be a man of cruelty. He had a Mohican cut and scythe-shaped eyebrows. His perfectly straight nose and half-dome cheekbones sat above a chiselled jaw. His wide shoulders were part of his burly physique. His eyes had the same startling clarity as a mountain stream and the lineaments of his face were in perfect proportion to each other.

If one was to look at him they would never believe he was a man in his early forties already. His highly maintained body and wealth spoke in numerous ways.

Picking up the hot cup of coffee that was placed by his secretary seconds ago, he calmly inhaled the fresh brew scent.

"Freshly brewed coffee always helps me relax" he spoke gently taking a sip of his hot drink.

"Do you know Sierra Collen?" As impatient as he was, Aaron was not here to take any bullshits from the man sitting in front of him.

"Sierra.. hmm you mean the women who was found dead today morning?" Jacob replied calmly as he enjoyed his coffee not really bothered by the question.

"Yes! Do you know her? We suspect one of your men is behind her murder!"

"Hahah! Sorry detective but I must have made a mistake while hearing you. Are you suspecting my people?" he finally placed the cup on the desk and looked at Aaron straight in the eyes.

His ocean blue ones piercing the latter's green orbs. "I mean... why would you think so until you have solid proof" he continued breaking the gaze and running circles round the rim of his cup.

"We found this shape drawn by the blood of the victim, right beside her body. I am pretty sure you recognize the mark Mr Jacob!" Aaron poked his cheeks with his tongue from the inside as the frustration within him grew.

Jacob looked at the picture closely that Aaron had placed on the table and narrowed his eyes.

Aaron was right!

How could Jacob not recognize the mark that was drawn, it was the Serpents badge symbol. It was assigned to them by the headquarter itself.

He averted his gaze from the photo to his assistant who immediately understood what he was asked for.

His assistant, Vermin picked up the photo carefully and took a closer look. He observed the picture and put it back on the table.

"We do recognize the symbol. This however does not confirm one of us is responsible for the crime Detective Aaron" this was the first time Vermin had spoken since the detective had made his entry.

His voice was completely different from his appearance it was rather cheerful.

"But it definitely makes you a prime suspect" Aaron was stubborn to find any loopholes.

"I wont argue with you Detective, but please do come here with a valid proof. Or else, I will have to bother you with going to the court for trespassing without permission." Vermin spoke and smiled.

"Don't think I will stop here Jacob Carls! You won't get away this time!" Aaron threatened before he walked out of the office.

How the fuck am I going to prove his crime!

Just when he thought he could let the smoke engulf his thoughts his phone rang. Looking at the caller ID, his face clearly showed displeasure.

"Yes?" he answered lazily

"What do you mean there is another murder? I will be there in 15." Before even waiting for a reply he cut the call and hoped in his car.

Starting the engine with a roar as his mind wondered.

What the hell are they up to? Is it really Jacob Carls behind all this!
