Chapter 29 - Chapter X - "-morph" (1/3)

Everyone (except Varun) wore leather suits and took different-looking swords, with a sheath behind them. Tarragon just looked at them with a little pride and smiled to himself, it might have reminded him of 'The IMPERFECTS', Varun thought.

Ivor was hard to look at, with every passing moment, Varun had more and more urge to look from below the head, many questions had aroused in his head.

Everyone stood in a wide-line in front of Varun, Tarragon and Ivor.

"You all look good enough," Tarragon said.

"Fara didn't get Trigon though," Varun said.

"I'm good enough to fight though," Fara said.

"I'll decide on that," Tarragon said.

Alarms blared all around the place.

"What is that?" Fara asked.

"Not the point of decision Tarragon planned on, but will be," Varun said.

"You impress me with your words kid," Tarragon said handing Varun the stone-gem.

"To myself I do too," Varun said changing into his armour.

"Let's move already people. Lord knows what the alarms blared for," Ivor grumbled.

Everyone reached the so-called entrance of the base, at least the part where there was danger and barely some people were gathered. A guy after spotting Tarragon and the others ran up to them hurriedly and glared at Tarragon.

"Seriously, I caused this? How could I've ever caused this?" Tarragon asked.

The guy looked at Team Anti-Christmas.

"Bringing them here was a fault? No sir, they just are good kids. They will be against the snowing in Bengaluru. Won't be involved in either Saturn or the Ring, so they are not a problem," Tarragon said.

The guy continued glaring at Tarragon.

"Oh… something attracted the danger when I bought them in? What could that be, now?" Tarragon asked.

"Is anyone else hearing only Tarragon and seeing the guy just glaring? Or are there premium subtitles available especially for Tarragon?" Varun asked.

The guy just shook his head smiling.

"I know right, kid's fun," Tarragon said.

The guy glared at Tarragon again, instantly.

"But, danger calls to be considered first," Tarragon said.

"The guy can't talk and Tarragon is used to understanding the glaring signs and proximate whatever the guy wants to say," Ivor said.

"That's hell-a-lot," Varun said.

"I'm impressed with this," Aria said.

"Ahead kids, ahead," Tarragon said running forward, everyone followed him.

"Sir, with all due respect, you messed up. With me involved even," Lispe said after Tarragon approached him.

"Details Edward, details," Tarragon sighed.

"It's Morph. After we went to that place and had two trips getting the kids to the base, Morph spotted and tracked us. And now has reached us," Edward Lispe said.

"Not Morph… oh god," Tarragon sighed.

"Also, we have less than ten minutes before that thing breaks in into the base. And additionally, around half an hour before Saturn Organisation gets this message and can confirm it. The consequences of the latter will be worse than Morph sir," Edward said.

"Thanks for the doomsday script Edward. Scoot to a safer place unless you want to join your grandpa and pa," Tarragon said.

Edward Lispe went away.

"Ok, what is this Morph? Why is it bad?" Varun asked.

"It's worse than bad. Morph is a dooms-beast. Made by whom? We don't exactly know. We sure sighted it after the snow started. But, it has showed up some signatures before surely. It could be a work of Saturn Organisation. Or the signatures could have been a haunted house protocol of Saturn organisation and Morpheus guy made an exact beast matching it," Tarragon said.

"They have many protocols that way, to keep us busy just in case," Ivor added.

"Either way, we call it as 'Morph' as we couldn't shape this creature before or even recently after it showed up. It showed up as different shapes whenever we almost spotted it and all it left behind was chaos. And we for sure know it is one creature… hopefully," Tarragon said.

"Or it could be both," Varun said.

"Kid has a point," Ivor agreed.

"How do you mean?" Aria asked.

"It could have been the creation of Saturn Organisation. But it got shaped stronger after the snow, you know zombie-like or mutated way better. Or who knows what all Morpheus could do," Varun said.

"Yes, it is possible. As much as I remember Saturn Organisation experimented on dragons and planned on making adaptions," Fara said.

"What do you mean as much as you 'remember'?" Ivor asked.

"How did he ask that without hands?" Varun asked.

"Even of last life I barely remember things. I couldn't recognise Tarragon at the first look. But, after I did, your face came back to me, which is all I saw," Fara said.

"And nothing else about before that…?" Aria asked.

"Barely some glimpses," Fara said.

"Let's work on that later," Tarragon suggested.

"Said the same thing in her last life," Ivor scoffed.

"The rampaging beast first," Tarragon said pointing at the door.

The speechless glaring-guy showed up again.

"Tell everyone to go away from this area. We'll handle this area," Tarragon said.

The guy glared with squinty eyes.

"Confirm him that we'll take care of the beast," Tarragon said.

"We may not be able to," Varun said.

"You made me bring him, you are the one getting him dead," Tarragon said.

The speechless glaring-guy shook his head.

"Make him disappear he says. How can we do that?" Tarragon asked.

The guy just rolled his right-index finger in air and walked away.

"Your own problem he says," Tarragon scoffed. "It's 'our' new problem!" Tarragon screamed at the guy, as he was walking away and the people around followed him.

"Tarragon, you leave too," Fara said.

"You seem to still be bossy," Ivor said.

"How can I just leave you on your own?" Tarragon asked.

"Tarragon, get your ass and that head, out of this place," Fara said signing him away.

"Nice knowing you for two lives. Good luck making that thing disappear in less than twenty minutes now," Tarragon said.

The doors burst open behind them as Tarragon walked away. Everyone turned to see the entrance of the beast through dramatic smoke.

The beast was larger than Phobetor and on its four. One could say it was a huge dog or lion but it was something more. It had no scars but a perfect body and could take down a whole building in minutes. Its eyes were… lifeless and just shaped as eyes. All it had was flesh, but also, everything is made of flesh.

"Split, be careful and protect each other," Varun said.

"We are taking away the run option?" Flint asked.

"No-no, let's run. Towards it!" Varun said running towards the beast.

Everyone sighed splitting, and ran towards it. The beast didn't even flinch looking at everyone and waited for them to come closer.

Varun lifted his left hand and hit a lightning jolt on the beast's head, it barely flinched and groaned. Varun went close to its leg but the beast pushed him away.

Adam and Jiant were next up as they closed in to the other front leg. The beast lifted its leg and tried to push them. Jiant ducked as Adam got thrown away, just as the leg neared Jiant again, he slashed towards it but it barely scratched through the skin.

Jay went on to the back leg as the beast lifted it towards him, he put his sword forward in between as the beast pushed its leg into the sword and screeched.

"Good to have a real life boss fight!" Jay cheered loudly.

The beast shook the sword and threw Jay away. Aria and Fara, and Flint and Maaz took onto the individual front legs and cut through its skin somehow.

"Good job guys, keep it occupied," Varun said getting up.

The beast got angry and shaking everyone off, it jumped up ahead. Everyone turned towards it… it was deformed and formed into something else. A while ago a huge lion-like beast and now a slim wolf, it seemed that it had realised being strong didn't pay it off.

It now had smaller legs and was at a greater height. It ran towards Flint and Maaz, pushing them away and then went back to its position.

"You really want to play wolf?" Varun asked and the beast growled. "Let's get reckless then…"

Varun grasped upon the white gem as he morphed into the wolf-Attear. The beast flinched after witnessing the morphing. It still didn't back off and pounced at Varun and Varun did too. They went head-on in a quirky one-on-one battle as everyone watched them both. More than ten minutes went by with the endless clashing.

"When did this one grow into such a… thing?" Jiant asked.

"Well, what can we say, our kid's changed," Aria laughed nervously.

"Still capable of death and he heads out alone," Fara sighed.

"He wants to prove to himself of being worthy," Flint said.

"True," Maaz agreed.

Varun caught hold of Morph's front right leg tightly, in his claws. Morph screeched and howled in pain and looked around searching for ways to get Varun off its leg. It ran up to a metal wall and smashed its leg towards the wall but Varun didn't come off even then. It thrust its leg hardly towards the ground, kneeling down and that hit Varun right off the leg.

Varun charged endlessly again and grabbed the leg again and started tearing the skin off, using his sharp fangs. Morph cried again and jolted its leg away. The arm cut off throwing Varun away into the wall, turning him back and throwing the stone-gem down to the ground, just beside Varun.

"That was one of the most gross things I have ever done. And I have a big list already on my mind," Varun said.

Morph turned into a smaller wolf than before and pounced upon Varun. Just when it was a metre away from eating him whole, someone stopped it… it was Jay and then Jiant joined. They both had stuck their swords to the two sides of Morph's mouth.

"Stay away!" they both said, pushing Morph away.
