When his grandfather entered the room, Jessie was looking at Din as he stood up from his seat.
"Are you all right, darling?" Concernedly, Cedric moved toward her and, as soon as he reached her, extended his hand and took her hand in his.
In response to his query, Jessie gave him a blink.
"You weren't bothered by him, right?" Jessie resisted laughing even though she wanted to when Cedric asked.
"Granddad, you don't need to be concerned about that. She wasn't at all bothered by me." Din answered and then turned to leave.
As she watched him leave, Jessie scowled. She believed he had earlier expressed a desire to do everything in his power to make things work between them, but now he was leaving the room when she wanted him to stay.
Oh, Lordy. She wished there was a way to force him to stay. She prayed.
