Chereads / My Best Friend Is A Transmigrator / Chapter 21 - Wrong Target

Chapter 21 - Wrong Target

Magical beasts soon rushed down from the mountain, heading in the direction of the troops. There were beasts on different stages, but they were all in Rank One. The Warriors sent by the O'Brien family were already positioned, so they started to fight against the beasts as they came. Julius and Tribe Leader Kaleb attacked the beasts that were at the Late stages of Rank One. There were two at the Peak, so Julius focused on them.

In no time, there were already casualties on the side of the beasts. The Warriors from the O'Brien family were well trained and they attacked with great synergy. Those from the tribe were also good at fighting.

Leon and Dean exchanged glances and rushed to where the beasts in the Early stages of Rank One were located.

"Are we just going to jump in like… oh… oh okay. We'll just start then." Dean tried to speak to Leon, wanting to ask for the plan, but to his surprise, Leon started fighting the moment he got there.

After charging into the battlefield, Leon took out his bow, seeking a high position where he would get a good view of the beasts. He soon found a large boulder just behind a tree and started shooting at the moving beasts that were trying to break through the formation set by the Warriors. Each of his shots were precise and lethal, taking out a beast with at most two shots.

He soon made an impact on the battleground, with Dean watching from behind the formation with his sword in hand.

'He's like the MVP right now.' Dean thought while looking at Leon, recalling some of the games he played while he was still on earth.

If they were to ask who currently had the most kills within the two minutes the battle had been going on, then it was definitely Leon, well, he couldn't add Julius and the Tribe Leader since they were out of his view. Dean hadn't fought a single beast yet, he hadn't even gone past the formation.

All the close combat fighters were already on the other side of the formation, trying to make sure that none of the beasts breached their defense line.

"Phew! It's just some low leveled beasts, I can take them on." Dean encouraged himself.

After breathing out a few more times, as well as encouraging himself five more times, he charged past the opening on the formation, heading straight for the first beast in sight.

The first beast that he saw was an Ape which was fighting against a warrior from the tribe. Without any delay, he swung his sword at it, trying to slash open a wound on the left leg of the unsuspecting Ape. But his expression changed after his sword rebounded after hitting the Ape.

"Shit! Wrong target." Dean turned around the moment he sensed the level of the beast he actually picked to fight.

Of all the beasts in the area, the one he carelessly ran towards was a Mid-stage Rank One Ape, it was not only in the mid-stages, but it was already very close to the Late-stages.

Dean was only a Fourth layered Body Tempering Warrior, his chances against the beast weren't high since it dominated him in strength.

The Ape left the warrior who couldn't fight back and tried to pummel Dean with its huge hands as soon as it turned. Dean reacted quickly, managing to dodge to the right on time.

Boom!

The Apes fist slammed into the ground, causing a small crater on it.

"F**k this! Go fight someone else." Dean said while running away from the Ape. he couldn't believe how bad his luck was.

Boom!

The Ape gave chase and attacked again, but Dean managed to dodge the attack again. Only, this time it was just barely. The tree that was struck by the Ape's fist shattered, frightening the hell out of Dean.

Dean looked around, searching for one of the high leveled warriors in the group, but he was having a hard time locating them since he didn't know what they looked like in the first place, other than Julius and Tribe Leader Kaleb, he knew no one else, and both of them was currently nowhere to be seen.

While Dean was running around in the battleground screaming at the Ape, Leon who was standing atop a boulder quickly caught sight of him. He was slightly taken aback when he saw the beast that was chasing after Dean.

'How did he pick such an opponent?' He asked himself, but he didn't bother about it and quickly notched his bow.

He drew it to the limit, waiting patiently for the perfect time to release it. This Ape has a terrifying defense, and it would be difficult to harm it with the current strength he could generate. The outcome would be the same as Dean's attack, unless he struck a weak point.

There were currently only four places he could hit where he could cause any harm to the Ape, its eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. Those are the only places in the Ape's body he could truly cause any harm to the Ape, he might even be able to kill it if his attack hits properly.

Although there's a fifth part, he wasn't shameless enough to do it, even if it was against a beast, he still felt it was beyond his morals.

Dean has been able to dodge all the attacks so far, which surprised  Leon. The Ape is not only stronger than Dean, but it was also faster than him. The other thing that surprised him was that Dean didn't try to run to the formation for protection, rather he kept the Ape in the battleground. If he took it to where the formation was, he might cause chaos, breaking the formation in the process.

"Heh! Looks like he's stronger than he knows, or maybe he's just faster." He muttered to himself while aiming at the Ape.

Dean, who was currently running away from the Ape, was thanking the heavens that he decided to first master a movement technique, before any other technique. Had he not mastered it, he would've been toast.

Twang!

Leon released the string of his bow the moment the Ape raised its hands, trying to smash Dean into a meat paste. He had been studying the Ape's movement while it was attacking Dean, and he noticed it was at its most vulnerable just when it's about to attack, just like everyone else.

Swoosh!

The arrow traveled at breakneck speed, slicing through the air. It got to the Ape the moment its hand was at its highest, just before it was about to release an attack.

Pu-chi!

The arrow pierced into the Ape's left eye, halting its movement.

Roar!

The Ape roared in pain, attracting the attention of the few people who were close to it. Dean, who was still running, was scared by the roar and actually continued running without even looking back, pushing himself faster.

The warriors who were around quickly surrounded the already injured Ape and quickly killed it. There were a few who were Sixth layered Warriors and one Seventh layered Warrior. Most of the high leveled Warriors had already headed forward, leaving the low leveled beasts for those in the Fifth and Sixth layer of the Body Warriors.

Dean noticed there was nothing behind him anymore and turned around, he saw the sight of all the people just as they were about to crowd the Ape, he also didn't miss the arrow that was hanging out of the face of the Ape.

He looked at where Leon was standing and saw him looking in his direction. He smiled in embarrassment while scratching the back of his head awkwardly. Leon nodded at him before turning to face the battle again. He smiled wryly before turning around again, this time he made sure to check the level of the beast before attacking.
