Chapter 57 - Chapter 57

Training Hiro was over when Rosetta called them for dinner. Once dinner was over Rosetta decided to take Rosemarie home. "I'm going to be taking Rosemarie home," she said as she and her niece left.

"Okay, bye!" Lucifer said waving to them as they left. He turns to Hiro. "When will you be picked up?" he asked.

"Soon," Hiro replies.

Rosemarie and Rosetta took one of the cars in the garage to go back home. "Is it really okay to use His Highness' car," Rosemarie asked.

Rosetta looks at her confused. "This is my car," she replies.

Rosemarie's eyes widened in surprise. "Your car is expensive," she said.

Rosetta laughed a little bit. "It's actually the cheapest there. Most of the other cars belong to the rest of the servants in the house."

"The pay must be good if everyone of you own very expensive cars like that," Rosemarie said, resting her head against the window.

"It is very good," Rosetta said.

Rosemarie nodded. "Maybe I should work here when I graduate," she said.

Rosetta didn't question her decision or dismiss her saying she wouldn't be able to work there. She was just quiet for a while. "Is your mother treating you and your brother well?" she asked.

Rosemarie didn't say anything for a while. "It depends on how you describe her taking care of us," she said.

"What do you mean?" Rosetta asked in a soft voice.

Rosemarie struggled to put it into words. "Sure she takes care of us, food, clothes, and shelter," she said. "But she'd been putting a lot of pressure on Roger and I, ever since that mall incident when she found out you worked of the Second Prince, she's been harder on us than usual, it's even worse than when Roger told her he had awakened his ability."

"What?" Rosetta said sounding a bit angry.

Rosemarie noticed this, then she said, "Don't be angry, aunty."

"How can I not be angry, why is she being hard on you two?"

"Because she's jealous of you and wants to  surpass you in everyway, even though it means using us, her children?" Rosemarie replies.

"Jealous?" Rosetta surprised that niece said that her mother was jealous of her. "Why would she be jealous? She literally has everything she's ever wanted."

Rosemarie looks at her blankly. "Sometimes I wonder how mother could have such a nice sister," she said. "It is very obvious to everyone that she doesn't like you at all and would do anything to see you sad or beneath her."

"That is not true, also it's not a nice thing to say that about your--"

"You too, you know it," Rosemarie said interrupting her. "But keep denying it because you still hope that the both of you will reconcile and forget about the past," she said.

Rosetta didn't reply to this, she was tearing up a bit. "Did I do something wrong to make your mother dislike me so much?" she asked her niece. "I-I-I tried my best... To help her a lot, like taking care of you and your brother, raising you two more than half your lives," she said, her voice was cracking.

Rosemarie was quiet. "We only had each other growing up, but when she began having friends she began to change and hate me, I don't know what I did wrong."

"I hoped she would return to her senses and we would reconcile over some plain vanilla ice cream and maybe some pie then watch the Jaxe family drama," she said looking at Rosemarie. "Or maybe go shopping, then I'll finally teach her how to properly cook because I know she still can't do so." She was smiling and crying at the same time as she said this.

Rosemarie didn't add that Roberta didn't love her and Roger very much because she believed that the fact that they were almost practically raised by her made them have her some her behavior. In fact, she dislikes Roger the omega, the one that was kind enough to love her enough to tell her he had an ability because his attitude was a bit too much like Rosetta's. Which is very stupid. And she couldn't care less about her mother's love like her brother since she didn't care for them very much.

She touches her aunts shoulder and pats it a bit. "Don't be sad," she said. "My mother is stupid."

Rosetta gasps. "Don't said that about your mother," she said.

However, Rosemarie could careless about this. Rosetta could see this and smiled a bit. 'She reminds me a bit of how Roberta was before she got those friends,' she thought. Then she said, "You know, I'm glad you and your brother are friends with Phoenix."

'Well, I'm not glad to be friends with someone who I don't know their species and could probably kill me,' Rosemarie thought blankly. "You are?" she asked trying to force herself not to force out any information that wasn't meant to come out.

"Yes," she said. "It may not look like it but Phoenix is like a baby at times, a child that needs to be carefully nurture, and sometimes he look like a calculated killer, like during the mall incident..."

'Oh, so she remembers too,' Rosemarie thought but then she wondered why.

"But Phoenix only shows that side of him when he's around people he cares about," she said.

Rosemarie wasn't too sure about this, Phoenix most definitely doesn't care about Athena, Apollo, and Artemis. In her eyes it was almost like they are with each other just because they have to be, and yet he act like that when he's around them, but that is when everyone else is with them. So maybe, Rosetta is right.

"I want to let you in on a theory about Phoenix that I have," Rosetta said seriously. "If Phoenix disliked any of us during that mall incident, then death would have been guaranteed for us," she said.

"I don't know why I feel this, but I feel like Phoenix could be an absolute monster if he didn't have anyone to care about. If the humanity was ending and there was no one he cared about, then he would be the one causing the end of humanity," Rosetta said, her voice was slowly becoming more dark and serious which was unusual for her.

Rosemarie almost felt scared. Why would she be saying stuff like that? "You are under his protection, so I can't do anything to you, it would cause problems." The words Athena had told her suddenly echoed in her head.

Rosetta then nudged her. "Don't take my words seriously," she said, giggling.

'How could I not?' Rosemarie almost said, this has allowed a lot more thought to race her mind, more theories.
