"Why don't we turn back boy, and come up with a plan. We still have 3 days left" Leonidas whispered.
"No, you managed to damage his right shoulder; it is also the same arm he uses to swing the club, so I am assuming he is right-handed," John said as he retrieved the dagger and the knife that were given to him by Porto.
John's hands were shaking, and he looked at his grandfather, who couldn't move his body except his head. "If I die, you are going to die a painful death."
Leonidas, who was in a seated position against the wall, nodded his head. "I know, like Decker said, he is going to eat me alive; regardless of how this plays out, I'm ready to die." Leonidas knew that John was terrified and noticed his hands shaking. He did not have much hope for John winning this battle. Further, he thought, how can John win? He only awakened a few months ago, and now he is going up against a troll that is far stronger than any human that he has ever faced.
He then looked up at the ceiling of the cave and said, "Angeline, honey, I am sorry that I cannot keep my promise; I am a failure of a father... If there is an afterlife, I hope I can make it up to you then. Anna, my love, I have faith that you and the rest of the family will be victorious; I know my sons will find out his weakness; however, if you all die, then I don't know how I will make it up to you all," Leonidas thought.
Leonidas then looked at his legs and arms. He tried to move them, but they weren't moving an inch. He had no energy inside his body, and he felt like his whole body was held down by thick iron chains. He thought, "Damn you, Decker, if his plan worked against me, then there is a possibility that he is going to kill my family." It had been a long time since Leonidas felt fear and extreme sadness; he was powerless, and it hurt him to the core. He then looked at John, who was busy mentally preparing himself. "This boy is my only hope." Leonidas then tightly closed his eyes, fighting the tears that wanted to run down his cheeks.
John looked in the direction of the troll, who was sleeping and in a sitting position near the passage that led to the entrance of the cave. John then took out a speed-and-strength potion. He started with the speed potion, took out the cork with his mouth, and began to drink everything. Afterwards, he drank the strength potion. John could feel power rushing through his body. He looked at Leonidas and nodded his head.
He started to walk slowly to the sleeping troll, and he noticed that the troll covered its wound with a dirty cloth or maybe some old clothes of the victims he ate. John was walking very carefully and tried not to alert the troll by stepping on the bones that were lying everywhere on the ground. Furthermore, he was not about to make the same mistake as before. As John moved ever closer to where the troll was sleeping, he could feel the cold sweat dripping down his back. He held both the dagger and knife firmly in his hands. He steeled himself by thinking of his loved ones, and after a couple of minutes, he was a few steps away from the troll.
However, this was not John's lucky day; the wound that Leonidas inflicted on the troll started to sting, and the troll Greyskin slowly started to open his eyes.
Greyskin then looked directly at John, but before the troll could react, John decided to quickly make his move, and he bolted towards the troll and buried the knife in the troll's right eye.
"Aaahhh" the troll Greyskin screamed in agony.
Greyskin never expected this weak-looking boy to attack him. "Me going to eat you!" John had already retreated after stabbing the troll in the eye.
Greyskin then stood up, slowly removed the knife from his eye socket, and threw it to the ground. John had one dagger in his hand, he looked the troll in the remaining eye, and gestured for it to come. "Step forward if you want to die," John said in the line that he heard from an anime show he used to watch.
The troll growled, picked up his club, and swung it toward John. "Die!"
John was shocked. "Shit." He then rolled on the ground, dodging the attack from the troll. John rolled in the direction where his knife was thrown; he then picked it up and retreated a few steps, giving him some space.
"Fuck you! " John then ran in the other direction, but the troll Greyskin was in hot pursuit. Just as John was about to put space between him and the troll, his foot hit a rock, which caused John to stumble. Further, this unfortunate event gave the troll enough time to hit John with the club behind the back.
*Bam*
John was sent flying by the troll's attack. His body hit the wall of the cave, and Leonidas could see a small crack that was left behind. He began to feel nervous. "Boy, stand up!"
John was still lying on the ground. He pulled himself up and coughed a mouthful of blood. The troll Greyskin dragged the club on the ground while taking his time walking towards John. "How was that, little man?" Greyskin said while grinning evilly from ear to ear.
John was in extreme pain, but he knew he had to continue to fight. He then grabbed the knife and dagger that he had dropped and slowly picked himself up.
"Okay, round 2"
John then dashed towards the troll. Greyskin then decided to hit John with a downward attack, trying to end the fight, but the speed potion John took made it possible for John to slide between the troll's legs, dodging the attack. John then jumped on the back of the troll, stabbing it with his dagger and knife.
John held on to his dagger and knife that were stuck in the back of the troll. The troll dropped his club on the ground and tried to get John off his back, but struggled as his hands could not reach his broad back. "Get off me!"
"Never!" John screamed
He then removed the knife while still holding on to the dagger that was stuck in the troll's back. He then repeatedly stabbed the troll in the back.
"Aaaaahh!" Greyskin screamed in agony and continued to shake his body back and forth. The troll then got an idea; he ran to the nearest wall and slammed his back against it. John did not expect the troll to be this smart, and the slam against the wall almost knocked John unconscious as he was hanging onto the dagger with his one arm.
John then removed the dagger to slide down the back of the troll and as he continued to decent, the dagger also followed along the creature's back sliced through layers of muscle and sinew, leaving a jagged trail of crimson in its wake.
The troll roared in agony and it became furious, Greyskin then punched John in the middle of his body, blasting the young boy through multiple stalagmites.
John lay on the ground motionless, and the troll started to scream in victory, "I win, I win, I win." The troll then looked around and saw Leonidas sitting against the wall. He then started to rub his belly. "Greyskin hungry, vampire man eat." The troll then slowly walks in the direction where Leonidas was sitting. "To think that I am going to be eaten by this lowly creature," Leonidas thought as he glared at the troll with intense silence.
The troll then rubbed his hands and licked his lips until he heard someone's voice say, "Hey ugly, we ain't done yet." The troll looked around and saw that John was standing at another location. Blood leaked from the corner of his mouth. Moreover, John's vampire fangs extended in his mouth, his left eye's iris glowed red, and his sclera turned black like it was being filled with black ink. "I am still standing." John could feel his body being filled with power and energy.
Leonidas looked at John, thinking that his transformation would not be enough. The troll grinned and turned his attention to John. The troll's back and eyes were dripping with blood, but it did not care. Greyskin bolted to John's position, not knowing that John had a plan in mind. When the troll got into striking distance, John picked up the troll's club. He quickly dashed to the troll's blindside, and with the strength potion combined with his transformation gave John a huge power boost. John was able to swing the troll's heavy club at extreme speed.
John swung the club with all his might and, upon impact, broke the troll's right leg. Greyskin had never felt this type of pain in his life and yelled at the top of his lungs. The club that John used to attack the troll broke after the impact. He looked at the broken club and threw it on the side.
Leonidas could not believe what he was witnessing. John then walked away from where the troll was screaming and rolling on the ground in pain. John made sure to make some distance between him and the troll, in case the troll decided to attack him. He looked at Leonidas, and they both made eye contact with each other. John grinned and gave him the middle finger. Leonidas left his eye twitched. "This fucking brat," he thought.
John then turned around and spoke in a loud voice to the troll, "Greyskin, I will spare your life if you leave us alone. Will you do it?!"
Greyskin held on to his broken left leg and replied to John's question, "Never!"
"Fuck sakes" John then retrieved a lightning elemental stone from his storage ring. He could feel the electricity coursing through his body as he held the stone in his hand. He held out his palm in the direction of the troll; the lighting energy had already formed, and he was ready to land the finishing blow. He quickly looked at his grandfather to boast about his victory.
"Never turn your attention away from your enemy, you fool!" Leonidas screamed
These few seconds had given the troll enough time to attack from a distance. Greyskin threw the broken club that John had discarded on the ground directly into his face, further causing facial bone fractures. The collision of the clubs not only caused John's attack to miss, but the lightning bolt hit the ceiling above his head, and an explosion could be heard throughout the cave.
Leonidas could not believe this unfortunate event, and he clenched his jaw. "Get up, boy! Get up!"
John lay on the ground with blood gushing from his mouth; his nose was also broken, and he could not find the energy to get up.
"It's over".
