The trumpets blared from the courtyard, calling the remaining monarchs who withstood the first day of the quest to win Ysabel's hand.
Ysabel's stomach was in knots, but she held her head high. The king and queen were not around to accompany Ysabel today. They were scheduled to attend a wedding festivity of the queen's distant relative.
They didn't need to be there, but in honour of the queen, appearances were always necessary.
"You'll be fine," Ysabel muttered. She held her head high, pretending to be unbothered by what was about to happen.
Reis felt the tension in the air surrounding Ysabel. She was more convinced that the young monarch had something going on. But she didn't want to go ahead and make her feel more nervous than she already was.
Upon arriving at the front of the gathered crowd, Ysabel refused to make eye contact with Hinrik and Kian. They were both in her peripheral view, to her dismay.
