Ryan and I stared at each other.
I couldn't believe he even asked me that. But at the same time, it caused me to hyperventilate inwardly.
"That was an innocent question," Ryan cleared his throat. He then rose to his feet.
I had to play it cool, mimicking his movement. I put back the cover for the ice cream tub, licking the remaining content on the spoon.
"That's impossible," I answered, feigning confidence as I narrowed my gaze at Ryan. "I don't even have to explain that."
Ryan nodded, beating me to the sink, extending his hand to me. I handed him mine and put the ice cream back in the freezer.
I couldn't stand the awkward silence. Hence, I cleared my throat and knew that if one of us were to leave, I should do it first.
"I'm all good now. Thanks for the company. Goodnight," I chirped, forcing my legs to move faster so I could hide from Ryan.
I made it back to my room, placing a hand over my heart.
