"Will you be okay?" Jace asked the moment I locked gazes with the target. I scoffed.
"Worry about yourself," I answered, determined to be free from his grasp. But Jace held on to me like a leech.
"It was an honest mistake, darling. Please believe me."
"If it was honest, you wouldn't have kept it from me. Where's honesty when it's not given?"
People around stared. Jace hugged me, forcing me to make peace with him over our fake argument.
I pushed him off, but he wouldn't let go.
"Leave me alone!" I pushed harder. This time he was thrown off. I felt sorry but had to stick to the character, seeing the target coming our way.
Two others walked before him, parting the crowd, and another two watched his back. He was, as Seven already mentioned, heavily guarded.
When he reached me, our eyes briefly met. I curled my hands into fists, hiding the anger that flared inside.
