In a span of ten minutes, Jace and I were able to clean up and take turns in the shower.
When Seven arrived with Ryan in tow, they came with a doctor who checked Jace's wound. The doctor ruled it healed, but he wasn't allowed to do the heavy lifting or any task requiring him to exert too much effort.
After which, Seven asked me to come with him toward the car. When it was just us, he handed me a folder.
"Everything you need to know about the killer is in there. How you proceed, when, where, and how will be up to you."
I stared at the folder.
"There's more to this than just taking him down. Am I right?"
I watched Seven. He nodded, looking away.
"Jace needs rest. I know he won't let you go alone. Until he recuperates, you will have to work alone."
I nodded.
"I see," I took a deep breath. "Will we really be free to do what we wanted after all this chaos?"
"Are you having doubts, Amiel?"
