Jace's POV
The dead body bothered me, but I'm positive that Amiel was bothered twice more. The look in her eyes told me everything she didn't want to say.
Although I had a debate about whether to let her go alone to talk to Mimi and her mother, I ended up agreeing with her decision.
While she tended to them, I drove back to the mansion, keeping in mind to stay alert. The mafia had begun their move.
We had anticipated they'd come after Amiel or me and Seven after the consecutive kills.
But when, where, who, and how were never certain.
Stepping on the brakes, I hopped out of the car, my thoughts were blank, and I could only think about taking the things I needed and waiting for Amiel to come here and pack her things.
I have a general idea of what were the only things she intended to bring. But it was better that she did the packing, or I might miss something, and she'd be mad.
