Despite being away from the mansion for only one night, it was oddly satisfying to finally return.
I immediately jumped on the couch and savored the leathery feeling.
"Damn," I mumbled, closing my eyes only to reopen them upon sensing someone staring. Jace was looking at me from one corner. He raised an apprehensive brow.
The new hair color and cut suited him. He looked more like a hot lifeguard at the beach. And I knew I shouldn't have thought of that.
I sat up, fixing my ruined hair, and got back to my feet.
"I'm going to…." I trailed off. I was about to say, 'I'm going to shower but caught myself. It was what initially started our clash, and I didn't want a repeat of that. "My room."
The corners of my mouth twitched in a forced grin. I excused myself and wanted to disappear from his view. It was best not to start anything again.
"What do you want for dinner?" Jace asked.
