Early the next day, I was awakened by the buzzing of the front doors, and even though I hated to get out of bed, I still threw the covers off me.
My head felt heavy, but I couldn't be lazy for today. I forced my feet to pad outside, running barefoot to get to the door.
"Oof!" I expressed not having the time to prepare myself for the sudden assault.
"Lady Amiel!"
Mimi squealed, releasing me from her excited hold.
"Um, hello to you too," I greeted. "What's up, Mimi? You're pretty hyped today. Did something good happen?"
"It's my mother's birthday today! She said we should invite you over for lunch. She'd prepare a meal."
I smiled, my stomach grumbling at the mere mention of the invitation to eat.
"Oh! Damn. I have no gift, though, but we could bring drinks. Would that be alright? Are there others coming to?"
Mimi shook her head.
