"What the hell? What are you doing here?" I stared at Jace, puzzled, nervous, and annoyed. "How did you get in? Just who the hell are you?"
I held a hand, warning him not to come any closer.
"Until you give me an acceptable response, don't take another step."
"Amiel," Jace held my gaze. "I was worried about you."
"Don't change the subject." I insisted. "Who are you, and how did you know how to get in? There are traps outside the house."
Unless I was alerted by the other person about coming over, these traps were activated. Only one person could defuse them.
"You're not…." I trailed off, taking a step back. "All this time, you were playing me?"
"Amiel, I can explain."
"You better start now," I folded my arms over my chest. "You only have five minutes to do that."
"Okay," Jace blew out an exasperated sigh while my heart was beating unsteadily inside my chest. "First of all, it was purely an accident."
