"Are those mementos for your parents?" Jace inquired. I nodded.
I took them down and intended to set one up in my mother's garden. So even if I couldn't visit their grave, I had a place to seek and pretend it was the same place as that.
I gave Jace a sideways glance, gesturing for us to keep moving.
"What about you? I never heard about your story. I mean, I guess I never asked."
"Mine?" Jace replied, sounding like he was surprised I even wanted to know. "They're dead too."
"Oh," I mumbled. The silence that followed allowed me to think about how I never knew who Jace's parents were and what had happened to them.
I think I had been selfish, thinking about myself only.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Do you visit them?"
Jace hummed.
"Sometimes. But I try not to do it often."
"Understandable. I couldn't even visit mine."
"Do you wish to?"
