It's game time for Vanessa. The past and the people they left in their past are rearing their ugly heads. It is normal for people in the slumps to beg for money and even blackmail them but Vanessa had been well prepared for them before their arrival back to Nigeria.
Vanessa was seated in front of the man who came to the office earlier with a black face cap and sunshades that would prevent her from being seen.
"I will never have this conversation with you again sir. The next time you show up, I will make sure you rot in here." She threatened.
"Na my nephew I wan see, no be you." (It is my niece I want to see not you.)
"Mr. Saliyu, let me put it to you today. If you misbehave the way you did yesterday. You won't like the other side of me. This is me being nice." She said before checking her bag to bring out a brown small envelope.
"That's a hundred thousand naira. Vanish I don't want to see you near any of us again." She stood up leaving Mr. Saliyu with the brown envelope.
It was Saturday and Henrietta can't afford to go to Damola's place for the weekend even though she had a wedding to plan. She wore a sexy silk gown and walked into her new Benz car. Damola had done a lot to make her comfortable. A well-furnished house in Lekki, a clothing line, and a shoe-making company are enough to keep her busy and put her head up in society. She drove to Damola's house knowing he wasn't around and used the extra key with her to get into the house. A surprise dinner will be good for the weekend. Damola got home in the evening and entered the house to see the table as Henrietta walked closer to him to welcome him.
"Hey, Baby," Henrietta hugged him.
"Sugar," Damola said as they locked their lips together for a minute. Henrietta drew back from the kiss, "I put my all into that cooking. You should come and eat." She pulled Damola to the table.
"You should think about freeing yourself on weekends. You look so stressed."Henrietta added.
"I have to work. If I don't work, you will not be living large like this." He said as he sat down.
"I agree with you but I don't want you to get sick."
"Don't worry, I won't get sick. Even if I do, you are in safe hands."
"You should eat and rest then. I don't want to be married to a sick man."
Damola dropped his spoon and laughed, "Definitely not when you are here."
"I should go home then, so you can rest., Henrietta said jokingly.
"Go home for where? You will not see rest this night." Damola said as they both laughed.
"The food is good." Damola complimented.
"Thank you, I am happy you like it."
Vanessa was all alone in the house since Henrietta had gone to Damola and Nneka and Bibire were out of the country. She walked to the sitting room in her shorts and crop top. She sat down on the resting chair and looked up at the ceilings with burdens in her heart. She worried about a lot, especially their past life. Mr. Saliyu showed up today and it could be anybody tomorrow.
"I wish I could just kill all of them."
"I will not allow anyone to take advantage of us."
The thought lasted for like an hour before she put on the television and the thoughts come over again. "Anyone who wants to get through to Henrietta will go through me first. I can't come this far to be ridiculed." She snaps her fingers on the chair.
She was still in her thought when her phone rang.
"Hello ma," The person said.
"Hello, Elizabeth. Why are you calling this late?"
"Yes, ma. I just got a call from Ahmed that some unknown men went to vandalize the complex."
"What complex? Which one?"
"They just vandalized the walls ma and they left a letter."
"You know what Elizabeth? Bring the letter to my house and call Jaykay to go and fix the wall tomorrow unfailingly."
"Okay, ma. I'm on it ma."
"Don't tell this to Henrietta."
"I won't ma."
"And the letter should get to me today."
"Okay, ma."
Vanessa cut the call and threw the throw pillows on her chair angrily. "Vipers everywhere. Why are they disturbing us? What do they want?" She cried.
It was a beautiful Monday morning again. Vanessa walked into the office graciously to meet Sirkay the special agent at the reception. Elizabeth quickly approached her.
"Madam, you have visitors," Elizabeth said referring to Sirkay and the two beefy men beside him.
Looking at the men's appearance they resembled boxers but they are not boxers by profession. They are all dressed in black suits and black shades. They are also tall and muscularly built. They are attractive and hot but at the same time, one wouldn't mess with the unsmiling guys.
"Yeah. I invited them." Vanessa replied. "What's up with my schedules?"
"You have a meeting with Madam Pat at 10:00 am and Mr. Chibuzor is bringing the fabrics by noon, you said you want to see the fabrics yourself," Elizabeth replied as they walked towards the men in black.
"Cancel all my schedules. Calista should go check the fabrics instead and Sharon should meet with Madam Pat instead." Vanessa said.
"Okay, ma," Elizabeth replied as she pen down the details.
"Show them to my office," Vanessa said as she walked past the men after flipping off her mink jacket.
"Okay, ma," Elizabeth replied as she walked up to the men to follow her.
Vanessa entered the office and hung her jacket before sitting down with her head up looking straight at the ceiling. "Get them to burn. Get your enemies buried." She whispered before smirking at her thoughts.
The door opened as Elizabeth entered with the men in Black behind her.
"They are here ma," Elizabeth said.
"Thank you, Elizabeth. You can go." Vanessa said as she fumbled with her pen.
"Okay, ma. Call me if you need anything ma." Elizabeth replied as she closed the door behind her.
Vanessa watched Elizabeth leave the office before facing the men in front of her with a welcoming smile.
"Good morning Gentlemen. Please let's get to business Sirkay." Vanessa smiled.
"Long time no see Wendy. Who would have known I would see you like this again." Sirkay said as he looked at her cleavage.
"Well, I am not Wendy anymore. My name is Vanessa and I will love you to stick to that."
"Very well Vanessa."
"Good Sirkay. And please focus on what you are here for. You can't have what you are looking at."
"I need bodyguards for my friend and I. And I want capable and the best men you have got for the job." Vanessa said.
"I guess you know how this works?" Sirkay asked.
"Most definitely, I will send you the balance and I want them to start their job as soon as possible."
"Consider it done because I brought the capable men with me."
"Very well," Vanessa said as he viewed the men better in her seat. "Can I at least meet them?"
"The one beside me is CJ and the one on the end is Ethan." Sirkay introduced.
"And I hope you have told them the nature of their job?" Vanessa asked.
"Don't worry Vanessa. They are professionals and they know their jobs."
