SIX DAYS LATER, THE BAMBOO COURTYARD.
Nie Shaoqing sat by the window with a book held up when Steward Du arrived. He pulled his fur coat closer as the cold winter breeze swept in through the open window.
He set the book down on the table, picked up the hand warmer and held it close as he heard the hasty footsteps. His nose flared as he saw the steward run in.
"Steward Du, how may I help you?"
It was the third day since he had returned from the Imperial academy and he was yet to speak with the Duke.
Steward Du flashed him an apologetic smile, "sorry to intrude, young master but his grace is asking for you".
Nie Shaoqing nodded, "Thanks, I will join him soon".
Steward Du blinked as he heard Nie Shaoqing's calm response. He nodded as he caught himself and left before Nie Shaoqing got suspicious.
Nie Shaoqing's reaction plagued him as he walked back to the duke's study.
