"What do you mean?" I asked. "He was probably just joking," Mako said. "What do you mean by 'again'?" I asked. He just looked at me with this strange look in his eyes. "Hey, aren't you going to answer?" I asked. He just walked up to me and kissed me on the lips.
I wanted to pull away, but I couldn't it was like I wasn't in control of myself. After he pulled away he smiled at and I didn't say anything until I realised what he had just done. Then I slapped him across the face. "Did you just erase my memory?"I asked. He nodded. "How much time until I forget everything?" I asked. "About five minutes," he said.
"OK then, tell me this did we really date before?" I asked. "Why would you ask when you are going to forget anyway?" he asked. "You are wasting time, answer the question," I said impatiently. "For how long," I asked. "A year," he said. "Yeah, we did," he replied. I looked at his face it looked sad as if he was heartbroken or something. "I must've had low standards," I mumbled just to annoy him. He was so handsome and cute it would be a miracle if he dated someone like me.
"When was that?" I asked. "When you died," he replied. "I died? When? How?" I asked. "That is a long story and we don't have time," he said. "Then how did I come back to life? Am I even alive?" I asked. "This is the longest five minutes ever," he said.
"If we dated, we were in love, right?" I asked. "Um...yeah, why?" he asked. "Do you still love me?" I asked. He looked shocked at my question. "Of course I do," he said. "Then why are you doing this to me?" I asked. "It's for your own safety," he said. I looked into his eyes for a few seconds then I decided to do it I kissed him again.
After what seemed like an eternity I pulled away. "You were my boyfriend, right? Then what about the rest of you?" I asked. "We were your brothers," Sana said. "Really? Like are you really really my brothers?" I asked. "Yes, we were," Mako said. Then the five minutes were up and I had found out about them. "Why did you call me here?" I asked. "Because we wanted to tell you we can't accept how you resigned yesterday," Chikao said. "Do you want me hand in a typed letter or something?" I asked. "No, because we won't be accepting your resignation," Sana said.
"Whatever! I have to, I am very busy," I said and stormed out of the restaurant. I went into my car and checked my phone and found it was recording. I found it strange and played the recording. I had recorded everything since I walked into the restaurant that morning. The recording was long but I to it all.
I understood everything that had happened that morning.I had to be careful about what I would do next. I decided I would have to watch them for a while than I would probably be able to remember somethings and put things in place.
I walked out of the car and went into the restaurant again. "I cancel my resignation and I am very sorry for being rude," I said then walked out of the restaurant again. Who knew a person's entire life could just change in two days.
I went to start the preparations for my mum's funeral it was the saddest three days of my life. After my mum was buried I cried a river alone all night at her grave. "Mummy, I apparently died once, did you know? Were you also this hurt? Did you move on during that year? I don't think I will be able to move on. Did you have to die? Did you have to leave me all alone? Did you? Mummy..." I said.
"Mum, Hailey is really sad now that you are gone, but don't worry we will take care of her. I hope she never finds out about was happened. I hope she moves on. Look at her now she still can't see us and I don't think she will ever be able to see us when we don't let her. So mum you can rest in peace with no worries. We will make sure we protect Hailey," I heard Mako's voice say behind me. I knew I couldn't turn around because they would know I can hear and see them even when they don't let me.
"Mummy, do you know why I have always called you 'mummy' instead of 'mum'? It's because I always thought 'mummy' sounded sweeter and I was wanted to sound as sweet as possible when I was calling," I said ignoring the fact that they were all behind me. "Mummy, I should have been a better daughter. I am sorry. It's all my fault. Please forgive me," I said.
Then I stood up and turned around. I saw all five of them there, but I didn't look directly at them and just walked past them as if they didn't exist. I was so surprised by the fact that they were sometimes around me they were just not letting me see them, but why could I see them now? That could've been a problem what if I went up and talked to them when I was supposed not to be able to see them.
I decided that there was probably a solution I could you the camera on my phone to see if they were being visible or not. The next day after that I went to work I saw them all sitting in the restaurant so I removed my phone and pretended to be using it and using it I checked if they were visible or not. They were not visible on there so I just pretended not to have seen them and sat on a table near them and acted as if I was using my phone.
"We shouldn't have let Hailey find out," Chikao said. "It's okay, now she doesn't remember anything,"Sana said. "But she can't stay without forever," Mako said. "She has to," Tana said. "No matter what we can't let her keep any memory of what really happened," Ahmya said.
I turned around and made eye contant with him and said, "If any of you really love me you wouldn't do this to me."
