Just then, the platinum-gold moonshine pouring on Eliana, had her lungs pushed out a shallow sigh.
"Even though I truly wish for it, I can't afford to play warm-up anymore; currently, I'm short on time. Therefore, you have to bring it on real quick! Ready, you guys?" She extorted, her palms striking each other in an encouraging clap.
The eagles shot each other optimistic glances on the sly; secretly gloating for serpents had limited venom stores and while they were still eighteen in numbers. Soon, she would run out of venom while her mana was abandoning her at an alarming rate!
All they had to do was kill the time which had been flowing with excruciating slowness.
One particular eagle, possessing a pair of long, muscular, and hairy legs stepped forth, embracing a lackadaisical attitude. He pushed his each hand's fingers into the other hand's interdigital folds, flipped them frontwards and cracked them all at once, producing a couple of short loud sounds before a wave of cool air slapped the noise away.
"Serpent...Go easy on yourself! You can bite one eagle at a time." His mouth crinkled, as he flashed her a sly grin.
A snort of laughter escaped Eliana's lips, as she spoke, "My grandmother once taught me that underestimating your rival is the greatest foolery considered in the strategy of battle." She snapped her eyes shut, two seconds later, pulled the eyelids upward again. "What now? Will you still stand by your statement?"
Confusion crinkled eagles' eyebrows, pulling them downwards to crouch over their eyes. They threw discombobulated glances at each other, before resting it on her.
"Hair! Her hair!" A piercing high-pitched voice cried out, cutting everyone's perplexity.
Following the cry, everyone's gazes soared on Eliana's head. The filament of hair that couldn't be differentiated from the colour of eternity and the gloomy countenance of midnight, accumulated themselves into thick strands.
These strands erected, transformed into several green snakes, and tumbled about Eliana's back and side of face. The slender and smooth tiny little serpents with the length of about thirty inches began curling and straightening their green shafts upon being materialized, as if they had been stretching out after a long nap.
They opened their sleep laden eyes which produced a golden luminescence, and rubbed their heads playfully on Eliana's face and neck, while their tails had been rooted inside her skull.
A trembling digit had been pointed at Eliana, which was followed by a voice coated with fifty-fifty mixture of fear and anxiety. "Elena Ashford…You came back!"
Eagles widened their eyes, nose flared and heart rate accelerated; clearly, the sight invoked unpleasant yet heart-wrenching emotions in them.
The little devils on Eliana's head grew alert at the foreign voice. They jerked their heads up once, then shook their body thrice for letting the grasp of the situation sink into their brains, before regarding the familiar enemies with flickering eyes.
All hints of playfulness and languidness disappeared into thin air, a deep-seated hostility crossing the snakes' features.
Their bellicosity that exclusively fed on the host's anger, brought out three rows of hidden keeled golden scales that ran the length of their back, from under the smooth skin texture. The snakes stretched their jaws wide; and the scenario alone was enough to swallow the foes' courage.
"Yes! I've returned... returned to become your death! My birth is meant to burn your fate, the one you stole from Venomblood, my land!" Eliana hollered, the stirring of fury rising its head again.
"You have no idea how much I've been suffering from the overflowing venom in my body! The snakes you are clapping your eyes on produce potent toxins in every breath they take, and supply it in my veins! Sometimes I wonder why doesn't my veins collapse despite carrying such a heavy weight!" She spat out the fact, and with a little tilt of head, glanced at the sky to measure the time. "Finish them off!"
Thrown into a blue funk, eagles quickly shifted into their beast form and broke the law of gravity. Their frantical way of thrashing the wings bore witness to their smashed doughtiness. They winded up dropping their unity in the ground, each flying to the direction their eyes took them.
However, every snake elongated their bodies like an arrow from a bow, for they desperately yearned to clasp themselves around their foes' feather-y warm bodies.
The enmity was long-standing, born with the creation of both races and existed stead-fast till the date.
The desire to guzzle the sought-after warm blood dry, inspired such a speed in snakes that they defeated even the fastest leg of time, and fervidly hugged the long anticipated silky soft necks. Eyes bubbling with excitement, they passionately dug their fangs into the quivering fleshes, and warmed the ice-cool numbing fangs in the heat of foes.
Eighteen snakes engaged with eighteen eagles radically reveled in the pleasure that was derived from inflicting 'sweet' pain on their long lasting companies.
Eagles letting out throaty screeches, tried to open their wings which had been roped with the snakes. But, in the game of dominance and submission, a submissive's defiance would only result in bringing punishments on itself.
Abiding by the rule, snakes applied a bit more force, taking sweet time in constricting their toys. Eagles' muffled cry, struggling out against the walls of their throats intensified the snakes' gratification even more, for their tightly closed eyes, and eyelids wrinkled like dried cherry spoke it all.
Nevertheless, the snakes intentionally avoided striking the death-points and delivered a plentitude of dry bites, chewing the raw flavor out of the fresh warm meat, and sipping on the vital fluid from time to time.
A long sadistic grin plastered on Eliana's full lips, after she turned off her noise cancellation system. The painful whimpers floating in the air melted her face, and ecstasy swirled around her soul.
Their sounds of cry momentarily extinguished the fire of revenge racing inside her vein, and poured cool water on the burnt patch in her heart.
"Level it up!"
The snakes absorbed the vibrations and picked out Eliana's command from it. Each of their gold fork tongues seeped in through the messy feathers of their respective plaything and injected ten times lesser than the lethal dose required for an eagle in each bite.
Eliana's venom was as potent as fifty other snakes' put together, and fastest-acting of any of her race. Hence, each snake head bit ten times, delivering a tiny portion at time, in order to increase their play duration.
This bunch of magnanimous things even corrected their toy's wrong postures several times, so that it didn't wear their preys' muscles out faster, instead conserved their energy for longer sessions.
After all, these snakes didn't have even the most distant relationships with any pathological fascination with dead bodies.
In the interim, the second-in-command cured himself. As sneakily as possible, he got up and took off its flight to the south.
Eliana whipped her head around; she spread open her balled fist, shooting kaleidoscopic flexuous threads of lightning from her fingertips. The multihued streaks of lights merged together, and created a circle of rainbow holo that snowballed farther into the forest, covering all directions.
It soldiered on mushrooming its radius until the outer edge from north detected its target. The lightning detached from her fingertips and pinned him to the ground.
