At the same time, Cathia let's out a gut wrenching scream. She looked delirious, eyes as wide as saucers. Face contorted in pure horror as she stares at her lifeless mate.
Cathia's world seems to have stopped. She loves Drew in her own messed up way and now she felt like her life was being torn to pieces.
Though they could not truly be together the way they wanted because of her scheming and conniving brother, in the eyes of the Goddess he was still her mate, the one made specifically and specially for her and only her as she was made for him.
Meanwhile Adonis had wasted no time, he had already dove into Drew's mind and as soon as the fog cleared he saw enough.
There he was. The Vampire King in all his treachery.
Adonis was at a loss for words, he did not see this coming. What would be HIS reason? What did HE hope to gain?
He was smart, he never shared with Drew his reasons for his sudden urge to sully my name. What was the Vampire King's end game?
Adonis' feet had suddenly gotten heavy at this revelation and all he learnt in that brief deep dive. And now he knew why his Beta had turned.
That was because of the Vampire King as well and his blackmail to send Cathia away. Threatening him with his mate. He almost felt sorry for him. Almost.
Because he knew he would move mountains for Diviya. The thought of someone threatening to take her away? As if they could! Or would even dare to!
But that did nothing to sway him, he was still mad at his Beta because he could have come to him. Then and there they would have handle it the right way.
The Vampire King cannot make such threats to one of the most sacred gift of the Moon Goddess. Being blessed with a mate is something treasured by the community of magical beings and one cannot simply threaten to keep mates apart.
I would have fought for him on this matter, taking it to the council. Then he and Cathia would have been able to live their lives unchained by this maniac.
Thus the Vampire King's plans and schemes would have come to an abrupt end before it even began to take root.
Instead he had chose to betray Adonis truly believing the Vampire King's words or not wanting to take the chance with his mate.
In another part of the room Cathia was crying silently now. Her body racked with her silent sobs as she stares at her mate and feels the pain rushing through her. The feeling of HIM leaving her, his essence that were intertwined with hers was now being savagely pulled out of her as life left his eyes.
She was crouched low next to his body now, she had dragged and crawl her way to him not having the strength to stand and walk.
She caresses his face as she cries for him. She cried for the life they never got to have, she cried for the times that they did get to spend together that she would never get to have again. All those memories flood her mind all at once. She had cried out harder now as the pain was too much to bare.
She cried for ALL her brother have put her through. Always using her one way or the other going back since she can remember.
Well it stops now.
Now she had lost her mate because of him and she was mad. Cathia was truly livid, in that moment, though it was Adonis that did the deed, she hated her brother for putting Drew in that situation to begin with. She hated him with a passion.
She vowed then and there to make him pay, she did not know how or what she can even do but she promised Drew.
"I will make my brother pay for this…he will pay for what he has done to us." She whispers to him over and over as she gently strokes the side of his face.
Soon things were being wrapped up. Adonis had left Cathia to her grief as he was sure she would not be a threat to them right now. He knew she needed to grieve.
Adonis contemplated if to erase her memories even after hearing her confession to her mate in her grievous state.
He briefly thought of the ally she can make against her brother. But Adonis was not the selfish type, he would still offer her the option to make her forget about Drew. That can help ease her pain.
She will feel the emptiness of losing a mate but the grief and heartache and sorrow that follows that emptiness will no longer be there.
She will be able to live her life free of this internal torment.
Adonis approached an Elite to escort her to the castle and stay by her side until he send someone to relieve him.
Adonis just needed time to have a room prepared for her so she can rest comfortably for a few days with her grief and then he will approach her with the offer.
Also given the circumstances he did take away her cellphone but she will have access to use one of the castle's phone to call anyone she needed.
He then softly informs her that the Elite guard will escort her to the castle and stay with her until her room was ready.
All she was able to do was wobbly shake her head in acknowledgment.
And as for her traitorous brother the council will be hearing of all that transpired. He would deal with the Vampire King by the book.
The evidence gathered against Beta Drew, will now be used to build that case against the Vampire King.
It was HIS plan after all. Plus Adonis had Drew's incriminating last thoughts.
That will be enough to sway the council into immediate action. The wheels were turning in Adonis' mind.
Next day, Diviya woke to the heat of the sun that was peeking in from the large windows, because of the drapes that she apparently did not close.
She was in the middle of her stretch when the first thing that pops into Diviya's mind was the training that she would start today and just like that she immediately started to freak out.
She began the battle with her insecurities.
Her insecurities of not being good enough came rushing back to the fore front.
Her insecurities of feeling less than. Or feeling incapable of being that woman strong yet regal enough to stand by HIS side.
She was also afraid of failure, what if she really was not good enough? What if she did not do well in her training? What if she took too long to grasp things? What if she cannot keep up?
Diviya's mind was spinning out of control.
She robotically got off the bed and stroll towards the window looking out and she could not even bask in how glorious and beautiful her surroundings were.
The scenery was giving a picturesque fantasy.
How the sun lit up the blue sky, the sky shown in the bluest of blues, the clouds the whitest of whites and the fluffiest of fluffy. She just missed everything that was beautiful about the morning sunrise. Her gorgeous surroundings and an amazing atmosphere.
She obliviously by passed what could have been the start of a beautiful day.
Had she allowed herself or should her insecurities had released her mind from its clutches and allowed her to bask in the beauty that was her surroundings.
Then just maybe it may have cleared her mind or maybe the view may have given her some type of reaction steering her clear from falling deeper into the clutches of her insecurities.
But instead Diviya robotically pulls the drapes close and walk back to her bed, getting in and pulling the covers all the way up, completely covering from her head to her toes.
She couldn't do it, she couldn't fail and embarrass herself. She was not ready. She needed more time, maybe another day to wrap her head around it. It was too soon.
This was something huge, something bigger than her, something she never even imagined before.
This was beyond anything she could have ever imagined. Plus for crying out loud she just came here a few days ago for protection Diviya protested AGAIN!
Diviya tossed and turned in bed, restless and consumed with all her thoughts so much so that she did not hear Bridget come in.
Nor did she hear the knocks prior. She was completely spaced out.
