Chapter 1 - Converge

"Infinite possibilities, all different paths you can choose and pick, converging into one. We want you to join the official Venator Association and help rid and cleanse this world of monsters and villains!" Vier sighed as he fiddled with his fingers. The light from his screen reflected off the walls with its paint nearly peeling. His room was covered in dusty old books he hadn't touched in years and miscellaneous items only a hoarder would have. On his desk was a camera. He looked back at his computer and opened a new tab.

'MeTube' He searched up. He had a channel bookmarked on the side 'Viernator444'.

'Viernator444: 31 Subscribers' He opened up the 'Videos' section to check on how his videos were doing.

'Elden Wing Tips And Tricks!' His video has garnered a total of 7 views. He clicked on it and went to the comments section.

'JungleMain108: Bro who believes in this shit! It's just what the government wants you to think!' He clicked off and closed the tab.

He fiddled with the camera and opened it up, taking out 2 batteries. "Well, I have to conserve electricity somehow."

"Vier! Honey! Would you mind putting the clothes out?" A female voice called out to Vier from outside of his room.

"Yeah! In a sec mom!" He recklessly placed the batteries down on his desk, getting up from his chair which made a sound when he got up. The batteries he had placed on his desk started to roll, falling off his table and landing on the carpeted ground, not making a single sound. "Double Experience: Activate." Vier spoke into his wrists, a blue bold C lit up on his wrist. A blue screen, not so different from the one before, appeared on top of his hand, displaying the words '2x Experience: True.'

"Hurry up!" Vier's mom walked into Vier's room.

"Yeah!" Vier walked out of the room, his shoulder brushing against his mom's.

"20 year old and still no girlfriend, truly hopeless," She thought to herself. "Vier, your room is a mess! Clean it up!" She enters the room and sees the battery lying on the carpet floor. She clicks her tongue in dismay as she bends down to pick it up. As her fingers made contact with the battery, it electrocuted her, making her vision go blue and static. "Ow!"

Vier was outside the house, standing in the sun, his shadow cast on the potted plants that were left out in the open, all withered and dying. His sweat evaporated instantly as it trickled down his face, falling onto the hot concrete floor. On each side of the platform were 2 long wooden poles, with a rope stretching from one end to the other. "At least I'll get some experience from this." Vier reached into the basket of damp clothes, pulling out a black shirt with a man's face on it, the words 'The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday!' plastered on top.

"Still wanting to become a top-ranking venator are you? You'll never be as cool as the Ice King." A voice spoke behind Vier. "Yo, it's me, Kreel!" He had fluffy brown hair and a chubby build. A long beige-coloured bag strap ran throughout his green plain shirt, a small bag rested on his hip.

"Would you shut up? My mom's in the house and she doesn't believe in all this hero shit." Vier hushed Kreel.

"Say, why don't you ditch that housework stuff and let's go train? I heard a new dungeon is opening up soon, it'll be suitable for us beginners. We can leech off the high-ranked venators and let them do all the work. You've still got that double experience boost left right?"

"Yeah," Vier looked at his wrist, the C lighting up and revealing a screen with a timer, 'Double Experience: 127 Minutes Remaining.' He closed the menu. "Yeah, I've got about 2 hours."

"Well then, ditch that boring stuff, come on! We've got an adventure ahead of us!" Kreel walked up the stairs and onto the platform Vier was on.

"Yeah." Vier clutched a pendant that was dangling from his neck.

"Hey, are you sure your mom isn't going to kill you if you just left the clothes in the open?" Kreel looked concerned.

"It'll be fine, I'll just do them later." Vier brushed it off.

"If you say so," Kreel shook his shoulders and looked the other way. "To achieving fortune!"

-----Scene 2-----

"You sure it's here?" Vier walked into a football stadium, "We could get arrested if they found us here, we broke in."

"It says we're here," Kreel was holding a glass orb in his hand, inside of it was a compass, pointing directly downwards. "Unless I've made some kind of mistake, it should be her-"

"You two! What are you doing here?" A voice echoed through the stadium. "If you're looking for a fight, then come!" An elderly man stood at the top of the stadium, overlooking the two of them who were standing directly in the middle of the football field.

"Hey man, we're not looking for any trouble. We're just looking for a dungeon. Apparently, there's one here?" Kreel shouted out to the man.

"I'm old, not senile! I can hear you perfectly well without you shouting! And no! There is no dungeon here! So skedaddle before I call the police!" The elderly man said to the two of them.

"Jeez, talk about a geezer," Vier said under his breath.

"I can hear you! My ability: Enhanced Perception allows me to hear and see what you're doing!" The old man shouted at them.

"Let's get out before he tries to kill us." Kreel pointed towards the exit of the field.

"Yeah," Vier looked at the compass he was holding, it was going haywire but it seemed like it was converging to one singular point, the man. "Wait, give me that thing." Vier snatched the orb out of Kreel's hand, lifting it up and the sun shined through the compass.

"What about it?" Kreel looked up at the orb that Vier was holding.

"Get down!" A female voice screamed at Vier and Kreel, pushing them down and narrowly avoiding a large fireball that was coming in their direction. "What the hell are a couple of E-ranked Venators doing here?" The woman stood up from the rubble the fireball had made, brushing off the dust from her pants. "This is an A rank dungeon." She looked at the two of them in confusion.
