Chapter 10 - A sight burned into his eye

After returning to the inn, Dreue entered his room, shut the door with a lock and covered the widow with curtain. In the room the candle light gave the room an orange hue. He set slowly on the floor with the small box in front of him.

He looked at it for a long time, he was lost in thoughts, in his eyes he saw what's looked like an irregular mass of mana, due to the number of nuclei and their high levels, they made an image of an irregular shining mass of mana, he was unable to tell how many was there, he never saw something this bright.

The high level of mana nuclei, may even shine out ton the normal eye, it would appear as a shining pearl, that's why he was extra careful when opening the box, he doing well now, but still he was vary weak, he would not be able to protect himself against a normal thief, let alone a mage or a martial artist, that's not taking into account the followers of powerful factions like the magic tower.

The box was made of a unique material, something like dark wood, he assumed it would be able block out even the detection ability of powerful mages, as for Dreue, he was just a different case.

He slowly opened the box, bright light filled the whole room, although Dreue's sight was bad, he was able to feel how intense the light by compering it how would other sources of light would appear in his sight from a small candle light to the powerful rays of the sun.

"It feels as if my eyes are about to be burned".

He took out the contents of the box and put them on a clean piece of cloth. He divided them according to their level.

"A total of 9 nuclei, huh, judging by their intensity, I thought I would fine much more. Not only that, their levels are lower than expected" Dreue carefully looked at the nuclei which laid in front of him.

"Two level fife, three level four and three level two, they are much higher quality than the one we got from hunting in the forest" Dreue put all the nuclei aside except for one.

"It seems this is the one that caused me to overestimate the nuclei" in his hand he carried the last one, it was not that big, in fact its size was comparable to level three nuclei, but the light shing of it was one another level, its mana intensity was higher that all of the other nuclei combined.

It was unique one. Normally when viewing nuclei through the eye of Perception, they would appear as a ball of mana, a solid ball to be specific. But this one was different. Inside of it, Dreue saw a swirl, the mana inside was moving forming a swirl.

"I thought about selling the low-level ones, but now I changed my mind, the person who hid is very powerful, leaving the unique one aside, there is no way he was just randomly hunting and happened to stumble upon this group of monsters and decided to hunt them" Dreue thought carefully.

"A person capable of killing level fife monster would pay no attention to collecting the nuclei of level two monsters, furthermore there is no level three nuclei, increasing the chance that he collected this number and level of nuclei specifically and intentionally". Dreue put them back in the small box, closed it, and hide it away.

"Staying in the inn is no longer safe now I have the books and these nuclei, no one will be able to recognize the importance of the books as their content can't be seen except by me, but that is not the story for the nuclei" Dreue removed the curtain and open the widow, taking in a breath of fresh air.

"Getting a space ring is out of question, it seems I should hurry up, finish my business as soon as possible and return to my home as soon as possible"

"I wonder how my mom and little sister are doing?"

…..

Dreue resumed his experiments with horns and the Perception magical circle. To pour mana on the horn after carving every line would not be cost-effective as the potion will run out very quickly, but so was pouring mana after finishing the entire circle as would waste so much time y working on something that was already ruined but he didn't know because he didn't check.

It was hard balancing things out, so he decided on checking with mana when finish half of the circle.

After several days of working, when he was about to run out of materials, finally he produced something somewhat good.

"it's far from perfect, although there is difference between this circle and the circle in the book, I think it is acceptable, it is not like I have any other choice, I wanted to make something better but I almost run out of materials, I should try it out I have nothing to lose anyway" Dreue looked at the horn in his hand.

"I should proceed to the next step"

…..

Next day before the sunrise, at the side of the forest.

"This place is remote, usually there is no monsters or animals here, as for people I don't think anyone would come here" Dreue check everything, a bunch of wood, recovery potions, a rock, the carved circle and piece of clean cloth.

"It's time!" Dreue lit a small fire, he put the horn on it, then he grabbed the cloth soaked in recovery potion fully.

He sat on the slowly beside the fire, when the temperature of horn reached its highest point, he put the cloth in his mouth, he grabbed another bottle of recovery potion and poured it all on his right eye, it drenched all his clothes but he never cared.

He took a slow breath, grabbed the horn with his right hand and the rock with his left hand. He started to feel the heat the horn approached his right eye but he never stopped.

he moved his suddenly stamping the seal on his right.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
