Chapter 11 - 011

The morning was bright and busy at Silver Lane Mixed High School per usual. The students, in their smart uniforms were meeting up with their groups, chatters and laughter's filled the the school yard and hallways.

The five minutes warning bell soon rang and the groups began making their way to the respective classrooms. Teachers were not left behind either after all, like all other schools in the city, SLMHS does not tolerate slacking off.

In the large year one, 3D classroom, the familiar figure of Glenn sat on his desk at the back of the class, his head clued to the table and eyes closed. To any onlookers, he seemed to be asleep and unaware of his environment but Glenn was very much awake and alert but just tired.

The events of the previous night hand left him exhausted mentally and to some extent, physically. He had tried to meditate and gather some QI to fill up his small QI pond but to to avail, he could not concentrate at all. Everything that had happened yester night kept replaying in his memory like a broken record.

Glenn thought about the system. Suddenly, the bracelet on his wrist seemed to weight more than it did. Just the first day hosting the system any such a disaster already befell him. Would he get in constant trouble in the future because of the system?

Glenn pushed those disturbing thoughts to the back of his mind and instead focus on the good side. With the system, he could guaranteed a better future for his younger brother and possibly, reunite with his parents.

"Damn, I didn't sleep a wink yesterday" the familiar loud voice belonging to none other than Sam entered the classroom and Glenn raised his head from the tablet. He turned to the door

"I know right? I was in the bathroom when it happened. Imagine my shock!" a second feminine voice half exclaimed

The door to the classroom opened and a group of nine walked in, only stoping they're chatters when they saw Glenn

"Shit, you look hell!"

Glenn chuckled lightly

"Good morning to you too Sam" He said

In seconds, they were all gathered round his desk

"You look like you didn't sleep at all last night. Don't tell me you got attacked too?" Sydney asked, a concerned expression on her.

"You guys got attacked too?" Glenn asked

"Yes. I was just getting back home from buying somethings when three masked men jumped out of the shadows and attacked me" Sam said "One of them were at level 5! If it wasn't for a group of men that walked by just then, I don't even know what would have happened to me!"

"It's really strange" Mirabelle said thoughtfully "I'm sure I didn't offend anyone"

"Me neither" Sam, Sydney and Brian agreed

Glenn turned to the four people who hadn't said anything yet

"You four didn't get attacked?" he asked

Emily shook her head and Conner rolled his eyes like the very idea of that happening was ridiculous.

Mike and Miles also replied with a 'no' and Glenn frowned a bit. Something wasn't adding up. Some people got attacked and some didn't.

Before he could ask further, the door to the classroom opened again. This time, Miss Lauren walked in dressed in jean and a t-shirt, black heels and her hair packed into a ponytail.

She was holding a stack of books.

The students quickly rushed to their seats and Miss Lauren walked behind the teacher's desk at the front.

"Good morning everyone" she said with a bright smile as always "Please pass your projects to the front and we'll begin today's lessons"

The lessons throughout SLMHS proceeded slowly with nothing out of the usual happening. It was soon the end of the first half of the school day and the students were left out for break.

Glenn excused himself to the bathroom immediately the bell rung.

He walked down the hallway and soon locked himself in a toilet stall.

"Open Status" Glenn said and the blue screen opened above the bracelet on his wrist allowing him to view his status information.

There wasn't much difference in his stats except for his endurance which had increased by one point.

Glenn guessed it was as a result of the events of last night. Endurance probably increased after his body went through tremendous amount of pain and stress. Although this stat was important like the others, the fact that he had to go through pain for it to level up bothered him.

Who would want to willingly go through pain and suffering?

'Zero, is there a way for this bracelet to be invisible or something? I can't have people seeing the screen' he thought in his mind

[There currently, is no way to make the bracelet invisible. However, you can change it's form at some point. You can only choose to make the screen invisible]

'Good enough' Glenn thought 'How do I do that?'

[Just will it] Zero replied.

Just then, a shadow pass in front of the toilet door.

Normally, this shouldn't be a problem but this has passed in front of the door for the third time and each time, there was no sound of footsteps.

Having ignored it the first two times, Glenn couldn't again and quickly opened the stall door.

He was surprised to find no one there. In fact, there was no other person in the bathroom at all.

[Picked up faint trace of unfriendly emotions. Danger level is 0]

Glenn heard Zero's words. Although someone or something might be watching him, according to Zero, be wasn't in any immediate danger.

Glenn quickly left the bathroom and entering into the hallway, he saw other students going to the lunch room or some other part of the school.

Glenn went to the lunch room himself and joined his class table.

After the break, they returned to the class were Miss Lauren was already waiting for them.

The desks and other furnitures in the large classroom were already gone leaving only a wide space and a large iron box at the corner of the room.

Miss Lauren waved her hands and the stack of books she came in with in the morning floated into the air and flew to the students, two books floating in front of some of them.

"Those are cultivation methods I have carefully picked according to each of your attributes. Because you are all duel awakeners, you can each choice which attribute you want to cultivate for first."

Miss Lauren turned to Sam, the only person who had just one cultivation manual floating before him. In was frowning.

"As you Sam, after talking to a few trusted individuals, I advise you to only train in the fire attribute for now" She said

The frown on Sam's face deepened even further. He had already known what Miss Lauren was going to say before she did after all the book in front of him clearly read 'Fire Cultivation Manual ~ Level 0-10 (C ranked)'

However, what pained and confused him was that he had to train the weaker attribute and let go of the stronger one.

"Miss Lauren, Can't I cultivate the ice attribute instead?" Sam asked a pleading expression on his face.

Miss Lauren shook her head

"Although that seemed like the reasonable thing to do, cultivating the ice attribute first will only bring difficulty in the future as your body would have adapted to the stronger attribute, it will be practically impossible for you to cultivate the fire attribute." She explained "If your body first adapt to a weaker attribute, it'll be easier to cultivate stronger once in the future"

The other seem to understand this and could only feel a sense of pity for Sam

"When then will I be able to cultivate the ice attribute?" Sam asked.

"When you're at least at level 70, then we can talk about that" Miss Lauren said

"Level 70!" Sam exclaimed, his eyes as wide as they could go. "It will take years for that to happen!"

Glenn smiled shaking his head. Level 70 was not too bad. According to Zero, Sam would have to be at level 100 to make the fire attribute as powerful as the ice attribute.

Sam still had a long way to go to be able to use his SSS Ranked Attribute freely.

"For now, you guys study the manuals and choose one to cultivate first. In thirty minutes, we shall begin physical training" Miss Lauren said "If you have any questions before then, come to me"

With nods of confirmation a d agreement, the students went off to different parts of the large classroom and began studying the manuals
