He did not know what possessed him to say those words to her. He knew he should not, but he could not stop it.
But if he was being honest, he meant every word. Because no matter how he had tried, she had never left his heart. And his heart never allowed him to forget all about her.

He wondered if they could ever talk again without the awkwardness or the wall that separated them. But he guessed it would be hard after the history they had.
