She checked out her apartment, surprised to discover that it was more or less the same as she had left it. Except for a few acquired dust, it still looked well maintained, just like her car.
She did not understand why the Count would buy her apartment and then keep it for her. It was not like she had any intention of returning to this place. Still, she appreciated what the Count did.
But as her eyes scanned her previous home, memories of her past flooded her mind. Most of them made her smile, but a few reminded her why she had left in the first place.
"This is not my home anymore." She turned off the lights and closed the door, returning to her car to leave this all behind again.
She revved up her car again, stepping on the gas as she drove around the city with no particular destination. It was already dark, but she did not care. She believed she still knew her way around the city.
