That was what should have been his answer to her question. There was no such thing as love. It was a commercialized notion that people used to sell their products, nothing more.
Maybe a few thought it was love, but it was just compatibility. It was finding someone that could provide what each needed. It was like a merger. Both must be able to bring something beneficial to the other party. Or it would never work.
But instead, he kept quiet and changed the topic. He did not need to explain what he thought of love because that was irrelevant to their situation.
