Damnit!
Receiving a phone call at the break of dawn was not the way he wished to wake up that morning. He intended to ignore it and return to sleep but changed his mind. It could be urgent, from a company collapsing to a relative dying.
He knew he had no choice as his hand felt for the offending machine that would ruin his peaceful morning. He knew any calls made this early could not be anything but bad news.
He just hoped it did not need a body bag or a coffin, remembering that early morning when he received the news about his grandmother's death.
He wished he could have been there for her. It was unfortunate that she was on vacation. But he was glad she died with people who loved her just like him, with family.
"Evan, aren't you answering that?" A groggy, sleepy voice beside him snapped him slightly awake.
He quickly looked at her, eyes still closed, but he could see her nose scrunched up, bothered by the noise his phone was creating around the quiet room.
