Kendric continued to hug her, until he felt her breath coming evenly and steadily. He loosened his embrace, glancing at her face which was full of sweat. However, her face no longer looked anxious. Slowly he laid her on the bed. Her body looked limp and without strength. It was like her body's energy was draining.
After making sure Leigh slept peacefully. He got out of bed, walking to the bathroom. Opened one of the cupboards in the corner of the room and took out a cloth. Then he walked back to where Leigh was lying. Sit in the same position. Slowly and attentively, he wiped her sweat dry using the cloth in his hand.
When he was done, he put the cloth on the tableside. Still sitting there, looking at Leigh's peaceful sleeping face. He thought he would never get tired of looking at her. She all he want and needed, his waiting have fruitful.
Behind the calm on his face. his mind was restless, his jaw clenched, thinking about various things that would happen. What happened with Leigh just now, it was only the beginning. In the future, similar things will happen again and again, and will even get worse. This is the same pattern as what happened in the past. For that reason, he prepared himself to face it. Indirectly, now tied to him. To ensure her safety, Leigh must always be by his side. If she refused, he would find a way, for her to stay here with him, no matter what.
Leigh sleeps all day and Kendric doesn't leave her side. Like a devoted husband. He sat on the sofa while working. Read the documents sent by his secretary. Every now and then he would get up from the sofa just to check her condition.
The sky outside turned orange, the sun was ready to sink itself into the western horizon and rest, after a day of radiating warmth for all creatures, plants that needed its light.
Kendric didn't realize that it would soon be evening. Drowning in unfinished work. Until a knock on the door woke him up.
"Come in," he said, lifting his head towards the door.
Cora appeared behind the doors. She steps in, bow her head. Said "My lord, where do you want dinner be prepared?"
"Dinner?" he muttered, turning his head towards the window, only to see that the sky was already dark. He turned his head towards Leigh, stood up from the sofa, walked to the bed. Sit on the edge of the bed, holding her wrist, to check her pulse and body temperature.
Cora was still standing in the same place, her body still slightly lowered, waiting patiently for orders from her master.
"Just be ready to prepare when Leigh wakes up, " said Kendric a few moments later, still sitting on the bed, how he had an appetite, when the woman in front of him was still unconscious. he hoped, she would wake up soon. Her condition was worrying him. She was already past the lunch, he was sure that she would be hungry when she woke up. He would wait for her to wake up and eat with her.
"Yes, my lord," Cora replied, bowing her head further, "I will take my leave, my lord." Straightening her body, she turned around, walked out the door and walked away.
"How long will you keep asleep" at the end of his sentence, still looking at her sleeping face. Until he see any movement on her. Leigh moved her head, her eyebrows knitted slightly, her eyelids twitched. Until she opened her eyes. Her eyes looked sad and tired. As a result, her body's energy was drained from the incident when she was unconscious. Her consciousness was still not fully regained.
"Good evening, Leigh" Kendric greeted her with a soft voice and a smile on his lips. Glad she finally woke up.
Leigh turned her head to the source of the voice, and she clearly knew who it belonged to. "E-evening?" she muttered uncertainly and embarrassed. She tried to get up to sit up but her body somehow felt powerless. She was surprised but she didn't express it.
Seeing her having difficulty sitting. Kendric helped her sit up, then placed a pillow behind her so she could sit against the head bed.
"I think I fell asleep long again" she said embarrassedly, her head bowed slightly, reluctant to look at Kendric. It wasn't a question, but rather a shy statement. Her face turned red.
"You just sleep all day long, its fine, your body needs rest" he answered with soft voice. "How do you feel?" he looked at Leigh who still had her head lowered. He waited for her reaction. He knew how she was now, confused. There were many questions on her head, but she didn't know how to ask. Meanwhile for him it wasn't a problem, he could wait whenever she was ready to face reality. He will always by her side.
"I'm fine" was a short answer in a small, shaky voice. This indicates that her mind is still in turmoil.
"Do you have any questions regarding everything that happened from last night to this morning?" he gave her the opportunity to express her feelings. So that she can be more relieved and not be burdened. He will answer all the questions she asks, to the extent that her mind can digest them.
"I...I" she stammered, with her head still lowered, she was still reluctant to look directly at Kendric.
"It's fine, no need to rush. You can ask me anything whenever you're ready" he assured her, he didn't want to force too much on her who was still shaken inside. He wanted her to be able to perceive what was happening around her step by step. A snail's pace is fine. As long as she can accept the reality of what happened.
"I think you must be hungry, right?" Kendric was silent for a moment. Not long after, the sound of a knock on the door was heard. "Come in"
Cora appeared behind the door, facing Kendric with her head bowed slightly "Yes, my lord". Standing up straight, she saw that Leigh had regained consciousness. Sitting on the bed.
"Prepare dinner here," he ordered without looking at Cora. Seeing Leigh's condition, he thought it would be a good idea to eat in the bedroom. At least she didn't have to meet anyone else and feel embarrassed. He will give her time to adapt mentally and psychologically.
"Yes, my lord," answered Cora, who immediately turned to leave the room and closed the door behind her.
Within half an hour, Cora knocked on the door again, carrying a tray filled with food. She put it on the table. When she was done, she withdrew, leaving Kendric and Leigh alone in the bedroom.
Kendric looked at Leigh who was still in the same position since half an hour ago. He really wanted to know what was on her mind. Maybe if he knew, he could help her, overcome the confusion that plagued her insides. He sighed, helpless, but he had to help her get out of her shock.
In a low and gentle voice he asked "Do you want to eat in bed?"
His question made Leigh flinch, she raised her head, her gaze was in all directions in the room but Kendric. "I'll eat at the table" her voice was small, weak, and barely audible.
"Come" said Kendric, stretch out his hand towards her. Just in case her body becomes weak and falls to the floor.
His eyes lifted, staring closely at Kendric's outstretched hand. She wrung her fingers anxiously, hesitant to take his outstretched hand. In the end she placed her hand on top of his. And Kendric held her hand tight and firmly. Leigh got out of bed, planted her feet on the floor, and with Kendric she walked to the table.
Once at the table Kendric let go of her hand, only to pull a chair out for Leigh to sit down.
Leigh's current attitude is like a child who has lost her way in life. Don't know where to walk. It's like she's faced with two forks in the road, where she must choose. Unfortunately, at both intersections, she didn't know to where at the end of the road. Is it the path that will bring her to reality and face it with courage and faith, or will it lead her to continue to be in delusion, confusion, like a room full of mirrors. Each mirror appears a figure of her with various appearances, making her even more confused about who she really is. She has to fight to recognize herself. So that she can get out of the fantasy she created on her own unconsciously.
Leigh sat slowly in the chair prepared for her. After that Kendric walked over and sat opposite her.
Kendric patiently took foods that he thought Leigh would like and put it on her plate. The dinner went on in silence, no one said a word, making the atmosphere in the room quiet, there was only the sound of clinking cutlery.
