Chapter 70 - Mine?

Leigh ate very slowly, Kendric patiently followed her eating pace, so that she wouldn't feel like she was eating alone in an unfamiliar place.

After finished eating. Kendric saw that Leigh has calm demeanour, her condition was much better and more stable. At least he made sure Leigh ate enough to replenish her energy. he stood up, before leaving he said "I will call the servant to help you freshen up. After that you can sleep and rest for the night" unfortunately he only got a nod of her head from her. "Good night, Leigh" he said and without waiting a reply, he got up, walked towards the door and went out.

Not long after Kendric left, Cora entered. This time she wasn't alone, behind her there was another maid who would help to carry away dirty plates and leftover foods. She herself was assigned to help Leigh freshen up.

For Cora, she saw a change in Leigh, this morning, she was filled with a high sense of suspicion and introspection. It was because she woke up in an unfamiliar place. Apart from that, she still acts like a normal woman in general. However, Leigh's current self has become silent, stiff, and shut off. Quite a significant change in attitude, of course. She didn't know what happened to her after her Master took her away this morning. What was certain was, her instincts told her, that she would stay here to recover. And she will provide the service she needs.

Finish freshening up and changing into nightdress. Cora helped Leigh lie down on the bed and tuck her in the blanket up to her chest. Leigh closed her eyes and fell asleep again. Cora made sure her breathing was stable, then she left the bedroom, so she could rest without any disturbance.

The next morning, the sky was clear, with the sun just rising firmly on the eastern horizon. The warm rays make the birds chirp happily in the dense beautiful trees. Greetings to a morning full of joy.

The warmth of sunlight creeps in through the curtains in the classic feminine bedroom. The fire in the fireplace had long been extinguished. But this is replaced by the light coming in and providing its own warmth.

Leigh was still fast asleep in bed. The silent room was no longer silent with the cheerful chirping of birds. Because of this, Leigh started to wake up. Her eyebrows knitted together and then rose, almost leaving her sexy eyebrow bones, her eyelids blinked slowly, preparing to greet the morning which still felt strange to her. On the third blink, the sea-calm gleam of her blue eyes opened.

The first thing she saw was the stylist and elegant ceiling in the room she had been occupying in since yesterday. With a design texture between classic and modern, but at first glance it still contrasts with the characteristics of ancient buildings. She wondered if this building wasn't out of place, considering its location in Yannick village. She herself wasn't too sure whether this was a typical village, surrounded by mountains and valleys. From yesterday's garden at backyard led by Kendric. The background is in the mountains, although only at a glance, she is sure that this house is in the middle of the village, far from the noise of the villagers, weeding ripe rice which is then ready to be sold at the market which is also far from the hustle and bustle of the market in the city.

In her heart she was thankful she was here. Not because she was running away from reality, but she really needed a calm, cool and peaceful atmosphere. For her to fix her inner turmoil. she hoped to face it with a calm mind.

She steeled her heart. She couldn't get too caught up in sadness and confusion. She opened all aspects of her mind, which always thought logically and reasoned correctly. When she makes peace with her chaotic mind, flashbacks of events that don't make sense flow out, ready to be touch and learned from. That way she can make a decision in which direction she wants to continue her life.

This wasn't the first time, when she lost both her parents, it was much more challenging. How could it not be, hers father was the one who was used as a guide her to lead a life full of meaning, while her mother was the pillar when her heart wanted to rest for a moment, looking for affectionate caresses that would not disappear with time. Mother's love is eternal. And she had to lose both and live independently. One sentence said by her father remain closely in her mind to this day: "Keep going, let the past pass by making peace with it, so that you don't have too many regrets in the future. Live your life with confidence, then you will achieve the ideal of life that you dream of. The past is a memory, the present is a artwork ready for you to carve to make the future your life's dream of'.

The look on Vhaken's face appeared clearly in front of her, as if she had been and re-lived the event that had torn apart her heart. 'Is it true, he's gone?' she asked, more to confirm to herself, if that was actually what happened. But what was her deepest disappointment was that she was not conscious by his side when he breathed his last breath. She knew something strange had happened, when he showed up at her door that night, looking like he wasn't who he really was. Something came over him, and she didn't know what it was. Whatever possessed him, hopefully it would come out of his sense and body. She hoped he would go in peace.

Another thing is, now she has no place to live, that house is the only house left by her parents. The house that was full of memories with them, is now just a memory, turned into a pile of charred ruins that will collapse if pushed by a hurricane. She had to find another place for herself to live. Luckily, all her files and other important things were not stored at her house, but in a safety box at the bank. She just needed to pick it up and rearrange everything.

What she regrets is that now she has nothing to remember of her parents any longer. There is only memory in her mind, which will always accompany her forever now.

Leigh couldn't remember how long she had been lost with her mind. Reminiscing about the past until her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. That woke her up. She got up, sat on the bed.

Before her feet touch the floor, Cora's voice was heard "Good morning, Miss Leigh, I hope I don't disturb your sleep" her eyes looked at Leigh who was still awkwardly in her place.

Leigh looked at her, she tried to smile, but the effort resulted in a stiff and forced smile. But at least she tried to encourage Cora and more precisely herself. "Ah no, I woke up a few moments ago," she answered awkwardly but honestly.

"Okay," Cora replied briefly, not wanting to make Leigh even more embarrassed and awkward. "If that's the case, I'll prepare a bath for you." Cora glanced over her shoulder and glanced behind her. With a nod of her heads, the two maids immediately moved to the bathroom to carry out their duties. Cora herself walked to the cupboard in the corner of the room, opened it. Her eyes wandered for a moment to the clothes neatly stored inside. Until she decides on clothes that suits the mood of the lady she is serving now.

She brought the clothes to the bed and put it on the edge of the bed. Leigh saw that, her eyebrows knitted slightly. She raised her gaze towards Cora asking, "Whose clothes are these?"

Hearing her question, Cora smiled, "This is your clothes, Miss." Her eyes saw the knit between her eyebrows, knitting even deeper.

"Mine?" Leigh said in surprise, as far as she remembered, she herself didn't know how she got here, but one thing was certain and she was sure, even Kendric, who brought her here, didn't bring her clothes with him, which were now scorched by the fire in her house.

"Yes Miss, Master Kendric prepared it for you yesterday, when you were asleep yesterday," Cora explained in a calm and gentle tone.

Cora's words made Leigh's face blushed, embarrassed. When Kendric brought her back here. What she remembered was that her body had no strength, even her eyes felt hard to stay open. She herself didn't realize how she could be unconscious and sleep all day.

Before Leigh made another comment, the maid who was preparing the bath came out and said, "The bath is ready, Miss Cora". Which was greeted with a nod of her head.

"Let me help you freshen up, Miss Leigh" with that she walked over to Leigh who was still sitting on the bed. Helped her stand up and lead her to the bathroom.
