Chapter 68 - Leigh, wake up!

His face showed that he regretted what happened, regretted that he had not read the conditions accurately and precisely. Now he just opened wide, his death. Just a few seconds of his dazed expression. His eyes were vacance.

"You scared me to death," said Sentia behind him.

A small smile strengthened on Farley's lips who was still looking at Lejaa. "I think your heart also wants exercise," he exclaimed in a passionate voice.

"Well, you did it," Sentia answered, a small laugh coming from her mouth.

Farley stood up straight, turned to the guard, said "Clean this up."

"Yes, sir," answered the two guards in unison.

Farley then glanced at Sentia, "Take care of everything here, I need to go to Kendric."

Sentia didn't answer, she just nodded her head, ready to finish everything, clean and without a trace.

Meanwhile at Kendric's residence in Yannick village, in a room that has had a feminine sight since last night. Leigh fell asleep peacefully on the mattress made of the softest material she had ever felt in her life. Not because she couldn't afford the best products, but because she didn't really mind small things like that. For other people it might be like getting quality sleep. But for her, she could still sleep comfortably with ordinary materials.

The atmosphere in the room was very calm, far from any disturbances. So that her calm and relaxed sleeping face can be seen. Her breath also up and down very regularly in her chest. As if she didn't pay attention to the disturbance that was happening outside the room.

On the other side, in one of the work rooms. Kendric stood facing out the window, looking at the view, showing the green and dense valleys. A landscape that brings calm. He stood there rooted. His eyes were cold, but no one knew the turmoil going on inside his head.

Kendric has a cold, serious, indifferent, even arrogant demeanour, for people who don't know him and don't know him well. It is very rare for outsiders to read his attitude and behaviour in public. Like a parable, 'it's like a lake and the moonlight appears on the surface of the lake. Unwavering cold'.

His peace was disturbed by a knock on his study room door. There was a voice from other side of the door "My lord, it is me, Farley"

Kendric turned towards the door, answered "Come in" and he walked towards his desk and sat there elegantly.

The door creaked open, Farley's figure appeared behind the door with a calm and dignified facial expression, as usual. He approached Kendric, stopping a few steps in front of his desk. "My lord" he greeted with his head bowed slightly, then he stood straight, looking at his master with a facial expression that was difficult for other people to read, but not for Kendric.

"What else did you find?" Kendric asked in a relaxed and even voice. Far from the unstable emotions of ordinary people, if faced with the same problem.

"As you know, the round metal object is an indication of Jaelyn's desperate attitude, to eliminate Leigh from your reach. It seems like she's still following your movements, and she doesn't hesitate, even using that metal, containing a deadly curse for the bearer." Inevitably, Vhaken had to die horribly last night. Even though he didn't realize he was carrying it when he approached Leigh's house last night. Like an angel of death. But this angel is from the darkness of the abyss of hell.

"She never disappoints me," added Kendric in a flat, emotionless voice. The same sentence he will say every times Jaelyn action cross with him

"They baited Leigh into attacking you. It would be good for Leigh to stay here with you," Farley gave his best advice. "She will be safe here with you, if she returns to Terrazen, Jaelyn will only send her other minions to attack and eliminated her.

"There's no need to worry about that. With the current conditions, I think, she has no choice but to accept my offer, we'll see what her reaction is." Kendric gave the final answer to Farley's discomfort.

With this, Farley had no more words he could say. At least, for now the situation is still under control. Despite the series of terror, they faced. "Then, I excuse myself, my lord" bowing his head slightly, he withdrew. He turned around and walked towards the study door room. He grabbed the doorknob, opened it and was ready to step out. But Kendric's voice was heard.

"Prepare yourself," a flat, emotionless voice came from Kendric, as if something was going to happen, he had predicted it, and he knew the outcome that would happen.

Farley turned his head to look at Kendric, their eyes met. He answered "Yes, my lord." Farley knew exactly what he meant, without having to ask for more details. with a small nod from his master, he stepped out.

Kendric glanced at the round metal lying on his worktable. Flashes of the past flashed through him. A series of events that he will never forget throughout his eternal life. He had avoided it for too long, and now with Leigh present, he had no choice, but to face it.

He was not afraid of what was about to happen. As long as Leigh was by his side, whatever it is, he would face it, he wanted to protect her with all his soul. This time he would not let the helplessness he faced in the past repeat itself. It won't and never will. As long as he is still breathing, he will protect Leigh with all his soul. Even if his life is at stake. He didn't care.

He sat there, staring at the same thing without getting tired and bored. A quiet workspace away from noise. Making him sink into his loneliness. An eternal life he lived, by repeating the same thing over and over again. All of that didn't mean much to him, until Leigh appeared, and since then, the passion for life began to emerge in his dark self, now changed by a glimmer of Light, Light that gave warmth to his heart again, after living alone for so long.

His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. Which sounded rushed and panicked. Then a voice was heard behind the door, "My lord, something happened to Miss Leigh."

And with that sentence he heard it. He disappeared from the study instantly. His form appeared again in Leigh's bedroom.

The servant, realizing Kendric's presence, immediately lowered their heads. The Head servant, Cora, immediately said after she rise her head and looked at Kendric who was walking towards Leigh.

Leigh's condition was in front of him now. Not like when he left her after coming back from the ruins of her house. Sleep quietly and peacefully.

Without turning around, Kendric gave an order "Get out!" His voice was loud and full of authority. Leigh's face was now deathly pale, her eyebrows furrowed deeply. Her eyes were tightly closed, her body was shaking, her head was moving from side to side. She looked like she was having a nightmare.

He sat on the edge of the bed, next to Leigh sleeping restlessly. He raised his hand towards her hand which was fidgeting at her side. When his hand touched her left palm. His hand stung, as if he had been electrocuted. Not on a small scale, but on a scale that could make an ordinary person faint instantly.

He didn't withdraw his hand. In fact, it made him want to hold her hand tightly, feel what was happening to her. He gripped her hand tighter. The stronger the electric jolt felt in his hand. As if he wanted to make, he let go of her hand. And threw him out of there. But Kendric is persistent in not wanting to leave Leigh.

Because he didn't release his grip, Leigh's body shook more violently, the more Kendric held back, the harder her body shook. Her body temperature also rose drastically, spreading throughout her body. Light grains appear on her forehead and neck. The hand he was holding was also wet.

"Leigh, Leigh, wake up!" Kendric called anxiously. Anxiety was clear on his face. he released his grip, only to hold her upper arms tightly, but not so much as to hurt her. He did that to make sure her body didn't fall off the bed.

He kept calling, but Leigh still didn't wake up. As a result, he lifted her body, hugged her in his arms, tightly. "Leigh wakes up, please" his voice cracked. If she didn't wake up soon, with her body temperature remaining high, it would only make her sick. He doesn't know what the impact will be if it reaches that stage. And he didn't want that to happen.

He closed his eyes, concentrating on channelling his energy into Leigh's body, hoping it would reduce her body temperature, and wake her up. He continued to do that, slowly Leigh's body temperature gradually dropped, her body shaking also subsided. Until finally her body collapsed in Kendric's arms.
