Dinner was going awkward. No one spoke, only the sound of the utensils in the exclusive room of one of the other expensive restaurants in Yannick City, which Ezra had booked.
The awkwardness continued, until their car was parked in front of the hotel lobby. Then each returned to their respective rooms.
Leigh immediately lay down on the bed, unwinding from the tension along the way. She took a deep breath, her eyes closed. Try to calm herself in the silence of her bedroom.
She thought about Kendric's intention of taking her to see a project she had offered her. Her brow furrowed, contemplating various aspects. If she doesn't accept the offer what will happen, and if she accepts the offer, it will be a big change in her life. She kept thinking, On and on. Before she knew it, she fell asleep without changing her night clothes and morning came quickly.
When she woke up, the sun was already high in the east. She jolted awake to see the clock on the bedside cabinet. The clock shows 7:45. 15 minutes until the closing session of the training begins.
She cursed herself, how could she sleep until this late. She rushed to the bathroom to take a shower. Prepare herself. When she finished it was ready, the clock saw already 8:10. She walked briskly out of the room.
What surprised her was, in the living room she saw Kendric still sitting there leisurely reading the newspaper. When he heard footsteps, Kendric lowered the newspaper in his hand, looked at Leigh, smiled at her "Good morning, Leigh".
Leigh, who was surprised and didn't expect Kendric to be still in the living room, suddenly stopped walking, shyly greeted back "Good morning... K-ken"
"Come, let's have breakfast," said Kendric, folding the newspaper in his hand, then stood up. But before he could walk, Leigh hesitantly asked "Hmm… I guess, we're already late for breakfast, we should head to the meeting room for the closing training session" at the end of her sentence, Leigh lowered her head, embarrassed.
Kendric smiled at Leigh's words and attitude, replied "It's okay, let's have breakfast first. It's not good to have an empty stomach in the morning." Without waiting for Leigh's response, Kendric walked towards the hotel room door.
With that being said by Kendric, Leigh felt bad, feeling guilty for having woken up so late. Making Kendric wait, even though it didn't occur to her. What she thought, he must have left her to attend the closing session of international training.
Reluctantly she followed Kendric's footsteps with her head lowered until her chin touch her collarbone.
They had breakfast in Kendric's hotel room, opposite the room. Watching Kendric eat leisurely, made Leigh's heart skip a beat. On the one hand she wanted to eat quickly, then go to the meeting room, so that she didn't miss the event any further. But on the other hand, her lips tightly shut to be able to reveal to Kendric, to eat quickly. until finally she chose silence during breakfast.
When they arrived at the door of the meeting room, it was already 9:00, they were 1 hour late.
Kendric casually opened the door for her. When the door opened, the room fell silent, and all heads turned towards the door. To see who's logged in late.
Leigh walked in, she hesitantly looked around. She knew clearly, all eyes were on her. With her head down she walked over to her seat and sat there with a clumsy and worried look on her face.
And to add to his worry Vhaken whispered "What happened?" Leigh only gave him an answer with a coy smile.
A moment later with Farley's command, the committee chairman continued the closing session. Namely handing over awards for those who excel and get marks during a presentation session for the training participants on the second day of training.
Leigh looked forward to seeing if some of the trainees were already standing in front of the stage. She had just breathed a sigh of relief, releasing tension and stress, by sitting in her seat. Unfortunately, in the middle of her taking a breath, her name sounded.
"For the first place goes to, Leigh Quinn" suddenly applause rang out in the room, breaking the tension that had just occurred.
Leigh was taken aback. Still processing the morning messed up. Her gaze was dazed.
Vhaken turned to her, his brows furrowed at her dazed look. With his index finger, he poked the elbow of Leigh's arm.
Leigh spottan looked at him "Huh"
"You won the award for best project presentation, get up, go to the stage" whispered Vhaken with a concerned face.
Leigh reluctant to stand up, she scratched the back of her head, although it didn't really itch there, awkwardly. But in the end, she stood up because she couldn't stand the sharp glare from Vhaken.
She stood in front of the stage flanked by 4 other participants. With the 2 most edged participants on both sides is the hopeful winner. One by one they received trophies and certificates of appreciation, which were given by the chairman of the committee. When everyone has received the award. All participants get off the stage. But when Leigh was about to step down from the stage, the chairman of the committee held her "Leigh, I think, it's best if you stay on stage for a while", this spontaneously made Leigh pensive.
"Here we announce, for the past year. This year there will be a new award that will be given to all project designs that have won big projects. And that person is Leigh Quinn, she won the Skystar Terrace project in Terrazen City" the committee chair announced excitedly, as if this was a big award. And it's big one, because only this year there was an award for architectural design that won a big project. So, Leigh was the first entrant to receive this award.
On the other hand, Leigh was taken aback, her lips parted, dumbfounded. She didn't realize that she was going to win this award project, which was basically not a project that she was working on as a whole. She only attended the project's last meeting from the data Sentia gave her. Which she believed the data came from Falrey. Because from the start of the project he handled it. And she knew how difficult the project was because it was hit by several obstacles. She herself was not sure she could deliver the final presentation of the project well. And she accidentally [according to her personally opinion] being able to win the project is a miracle. So, it should be Farley who received the award, not her.
"Leigh you are the first person to receive this award" exclaimed the other organizers, enthusiastically. But Leigh surprised them by saying "I don't think I'm the right person to receive the award, the project in charge is Mr Farley, so he should be the one receiving the award" her voice sounded hesitant but had a firm meaning. Because she does not want to accept something that is not for her hard work.
Spontaneously both the committee and participants looked at Farley. looking for justification for Leigh's words.
