Leo couldn't contain the anger from Jeremy's no response. He grabbed his collar right away, pointed the gun right on the side of his temple, and hissed, "You promised us no one will be able to know who we are! You promised us that the three of you—including President Yunis—knew our identities! But today, you just broke that!"
Jeremy didn't even wag off his hands from his shirt. Leo pressed the muzzle harder. It made him wince. Leo shouted right in his face, "Don't you have any mercy to us now because we didn't want to catch Zella Albert?! Wait until the time comes. I'll bring you the head of Zella Albert!"
Leo has completely changed from being a soft one to a killer one.
Jeremy was fast, too, holding the stare, and pinched his right wrist. He twisted it, grabbed the dagger inside his coat pocket, and threatened it right on his throat. It made Leo stepped back, grunting in pain, the gun clattered out of his hand and onto the floor. Jeremy brushed the creases of his coat, holding onto Leo's shoulder, and pinched it, hard.
Leo didn't know that he has a graze of burn there. He just happened to know when Jeremy held onto it.
Jeremy asked, "Did I ever bring you down for the past years, Leo?"
Leo twisted, closed his eyes, and hissed. Jeremy even scraped his long nails to the burn, and it made him kneel down to the floor. Just a split second changed, and the scene goes on from Leo's pouncing to Jeremy's recovery.
Leo held onto his chest, gasp some air, knowing the wound has reopened and just a wisp of air will make it sting. Jeremy hunkered down, angled the small dagger right on the side of his neck, and touched the sharp surface, increasing his fear. Leo turned to Jeremy.
"Look at you: all mighty earlier and now pleading like a puppy. Don't you ever cross the line again by asking me those absurd questions, hmm? Maybe… you're hearing is impaired. How could a normal citizen know who you are, Leo? You're at the president's disposal." Leo never meant to activate Jeremy's anger, but he had a knack of doing that for several years.
"One wrong move and you're going to disappear from air." He even made a poof sound. It made Leo annoyed. He couldn't move at all. He's entrapped to Jeremy's dagger. Jeremy smiled mockingly.
"Like what you said earlier, do us a favor so that we wouldn't dispose you, Leo."
He regretted those words as soon as it came out. How can he bring Zella Albert's head when he's his wife? How can he slit her throat when she's that defiant and would resist in anything thrown at her? Leo would fail the plan, and he's the one getting a punishment instead.
Jeremy tilted his head to one side, asking, "Can you do it or not?"
Leo glared.
Jeremy was like a father to him, and he acknowledge everything he had done for Leo not to be a street dweller. He's the one who saved him. Jeremy must have seen as a boss for someone else, but for Leo, he's a father, a brother, and a protector.
What he found out from the runaway he slain… it bombarded his mind if it was true or not. Because, if it is, then the trust Leo built up for Jeremy would all drain down in a second. That meant Jeremy only kept him for convenience.
Jeremy quivered his lip. "Right, Zella Albert is the most targeted fugitive for now, Leo. She's high-class, and she knows where to hide. Now, if you bring us her head, you'll be rewarded a lifetime seal of guarantee from Yunis."
Lifetime seal of guarantee will make you wealthy for the rest of your lifetime. You'll never go hungry, or even the slightest bit of deprived from wealthy goods and insurance benefits. Leo still hasn't got one, even though he's already 8 years working as a spy.
He would never turn down any offer to help him stay in his position.
"I heard the Cassanos wanted a lifetime seal of guarantee. Bring the head of Zella Albert and I will give you all of that." Jeremy egged. Leo couldn't help but to feel guilty. Once he made this deal, he had to kill Zella. He had to do it, no matter what plead begged on the prey.
Leo became silent for a while. Jeremy became curious why he's hesitating.
"Is it a deal or not?"
Leo sighed. This is it.
"Deal," he responded quickly.
…
Before Randall and Etienne could barge in, Leo burst the door open. He turned to the two, and the grunts of the staff outside of Jeremy's office reached his ears. The two of them have caused a mess. Well, Leo did, too.
Leo wiped the blood from the wound on the side of his jaw, and ignored them. Randall and Etienne followed him right on his foot, ignoring the staff, not even helping them at all.
Jeremy was right at the door, and he's observing Leo walking away.
"Something's suspicious about that guy. He's not utterly honest anymore," Jeremy mumbled.
