Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

"Hey, Tit-us! How's prison?" I asked.

"Pretty well. Can you break me out now?"

Quin's POV:

I have been walking for about 1.5 hours and I finally reached my destination. I was at a human village that had one of my best allies living in it, Titus Vell. I visit Titus whenever one of us needs something or just to catch up on things. I made a blood oath with him and now I can't get rid of him. If I need something, It just gets added to the list of favors. Therefore, If he needs something, I have to do it.

But I don't just come to the village just to trade with Titus. I do the basics of human life like shopping and eating. Sometimes humans will have something I want at stores like games, food, or weapons. I and Titus often go to restaurants and talk about anything that comes to my mind.

I went to the block that Titus is usually at, at this time of day, but he wasn't there. His scent was faint and mixed with other scents. Police. Titus got himself arrested again. I thought. I ran across the road to the left and ran down a sidewalk with a bunch of buildings "buddy-buddy" with each other. I ran until I took a left into an alleyway. I jumped over a fence and ran behind buildings until I reached the police station. I walked up to Titus's usual cell and he was there.

"Hey, Tit-us! How's prison?" I asked with a smirk. Titus slowly turned around to face me and disinterest was his exact expression.

"Pretty well. Can you break me out now?" Titus said sarcastically.

"Awe~. But I like seeing you look miserable~." I teased. Titus glared at me but it didn't last long. He almost looked sad or disappointed by something. "Alright! Stop mopping! I'll get you out in a sec. I have stories to tell you anyway and it would be a waste to not tell you!" I shot out, making Titus laugh in the process.

"Alright. I'll be waiting but I'm impatient." Titus yelled as I ran off. I ran to the front of the station and noticed officers walking in and out of the building. Finally, it stopped and I walked into the building. I scanned the desk area and instantly recognized someone.

"Officer Liar! How are you this horrible evening?" I said sarcastically, leaning my elbows on the desk in front of the officer. They slowly tilted their eyes upward, in an attempt to scare me.

"It's Leer and I assume you're here to pick up loud mutt?" Officer Leer said. I nodded with a fake smile plastered on my face.

"Indeed! Do I need to sign any paperwork or pay you before you give my 'Tit' back?" I teased. I heard gasps around us and noticed that there were new recruits at the desks. They all seemed to glare at me for my comment. Officer Leer noticed and tried to calm the area.

"Oh. They don't mean it like that! Their friend's name is Titus and they make fun of their name all the time!" Officer Leer panicked. I laughed at his misfortune and hooked my arm around his neck.

"Yeah don't worry newbies. We're besties! I'm a common occurrence and every time I visit, I try to pull the stick out of this loser's ass." I explained. Officer Leer tossed my arm off him and rubbed his neck like I got diseases on him. The newbies still seemed disturbed but I didn't care.

"Back to your question, you need to pay $14 for his freedom." Officer Leer explained. I faked a shocked expression.

"These damn gay, trans hillbillies! So expensive!" I complained about a grumble as I pulled out the money. I could feel Officer Leer roll his eyes but I knew deep down, that he supported Titus. Now I could practically smell the homophobia and transphobia lurking around. I looked around and saw a few people glaring at me. So, I flashed back. Most looked away until the last lady I glared at had a bigger problem with me. They walked up to me and got in my face.

"Excuse me young lady, but that is not how you should talk! Not only are you cursing but you are speaking of illegal sexualities! I'd like to speak to your legal guardians!" The lady complained. Is she serious right now? Sure I've been mistaken as a child but no one said it to my face. This is going to be fun.

"Well old lady, I can talk however the fuck I want and if you have a problem with legal sexualities and genders then take it up with the government, not me," I said with a shrug at the end. The lady gasped and got angrier by the second.

"Are you back talking to me!? You kids these days! You do not know how to respect your elders!" The lady yelled. I heard Rin whimper from the sudden loud noise. A few of the other officers that I recognized tried to step in but the lady wasn't having it.

"Get away from me! You should be scolding this brat! Not me!" The lady screamed. She dropped to the ground and started crying like she was the victim. "You brat! What would your parents think?!" She yelled, reaching for my leg. I moved away and just simply glared down at her.

"My parents are dead ma'am. Even if they were alive, it's not like they would stay around long enough for me to introduce you to them. They didn't even stay around to raise me before they died." I spoke. I felt everyone's bodies freeze at my statement except Officer Leer. He's the only human I've told my past to. It wasn't even a touchy subject. It just never got brought up.

"You're a goddamn child! Why should I believe you?!" The lady yelled, still on the ground. Before I could speak, familiar hands placed themselves on my shoulders.

"Sorry to break the news to you lady, but this "child" is above 18 years old. And this "child" also uses they/them pronouns and I'd like it if you respected that," Titus spoke. I barely looked down at him and he had a protective brother look on him as he looked at her. I smiled at his "role" as my "brother."
