Chereads / The Witches Prophecy / Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

I had that strange dream again last night, only this time it was a little different than the others. In my dream I was standing in a dark room; a room where only a few goat-horned torches lit up the minimal space. A space I was currently not alone in, as a large man lay at my feet. The man's body was curled up into a fetal position, his long dark gray hair completely blocking his face. I could see scars covering his back, as if he had been whipped or attacked by something sharp. Though I noticed something even more frightening about him...I couldn't see any movements. His body did not move an inch, not even a twitch or a hint of breathing. I think he was dead.

Taking my attention away from the man, I turned around and behind me was my friend Holly Rivers. She was chained to the wall by her ankles, her body slumped on the floor. Her blonde hair was in mats and all dirty from what looked like dried blood. I could faintly see some bruising on her arms and legs, but other than that she was alive and moving slightly. I shook my head, tears ran down my face as I tried to gather my thoughts on what was happening. Rubbing my face I turned back around to face the man, only this time, in front of me stood a woman. She had a long dark robe covering her whole body, her red curly hair just slightly sticking out from the hood she wore. She folded her arms across her chest, tilting her head as she looked at me.

I gulped, creeping a little bit closer to her as I spoke. "Who are you? What do you want with me? What did you do to my friends?"

She did not speak. She did not utter a single word. Just made a small gesture with her hand, pointing it at me. I wasn't sure if she meant she wanted me, or it was because of me my friends were in this position. No one could be sure, but I sure as hell wasn't sticking around to find out. I turned and ran, just ran as far into the blackness as I could manage. I heard a faint sound in the distance, as if the woman was laughing at me. I could hear the cries of Holly, as well as the now low groans of the man. What was going on? I thought to myself. When would this nightmare end?

I jolted awake just then. Sweat poured down my face as my heart was racing inside my chest. I rubbed my eyes as they adjusted to the lighting in my room. Looking over at the clock I could see that it was almost 1:00pm, I had slept almost an entire day! I hopped up suddenly, running to my bathroom to get ready for the day. I glanced over at my phone that I had laying on the sink beside me, ten missed calls from Holly and 5 text messages were sprawled across my home screen. "Shit" I said aloud, putting the phone on speaker as I called her back.

"Well it's about time!" Holly chimed into the phone.

I turned on the cold sink water as I put a washcloth under it, wiping my face with it to wake me up some. "I know, I'm sorry Holls... I promise I am getting ready right now."

She took a moment before answering, I could hear the faint sound of her driving in the background. "Was it that dream again?"

As she knew me too well, I just sighed. Turning off the water, I picked up the phone to walk over to my closet. "Yeah, unfortunately. This time it was a little different, more details and such. Still didn't make much sense though."

"Well, at least it was just a dream right? Anyway, I am pulling into your driveway now." I grinned at Holly's comment, she always had been worried about me. These dreams had been starting to happen more frequently though, and it was starting to get tiring, even for the both of us.

"Alright, be down in a second." I muttered, before hanging up the phone and sticking it in my pocket. Looking at the closet I could see a bunch of options to choose from. But since it was pretty chilly outside I went with regular jeans and a black hoodie. Nothing too extreme, but obviously very comfortable.

I made my way downstairs, catching a glimpse of my parents sitting in the living room. My mother, with her dark brown hair, was sitting in her usual spot knitting. While my father, with his dark brown hair and stern look, was watching football on the TV, a small beer can in his hands. I smiled, walking up behind each of them and giving them a hug and kiss on the cheek.

"Nice of you to finally join us." Teased my dad, focusing still on the TV with a smile.

"I'm sorry, not sure why I slept in so late today. Oh, and Holly is here, we are heading out to the convention." I replied, rubbing the back of my neck nervously.

My mom laughed, "Well that was short lived. Have fun, and tell Holly to drive safely."

I nodded my head as I headed to the front door. Looking back I gave my parents a wave and ran over to Holly's Jeep. It was an orange and black Jeep, completely decked out. Let's just say she is a 100% Jeep girl. Smiling, I opened the door and hopped inside. I could see she had the same idea as me when it came to dressing up. She wore some jean shorts a white long-sleeved top.

"Hey girl, you ready?" she said, as I strapped in my seat belt and rolled down my window.

"Of course, I've been looking forward to this for months."

Nodding, she stayed quiet. Putting the car in drive and started to head into town to the Supernatural Convention.
