The ride to the convention center was an interesting one. I explained the dream to Holly in detail, not leaving out a single piece of information. She had the same questions I did. Why did I keep having these dreams? And what did they mean? Something I feel like we would find out eventually.
It didn't take long to arrive at the center; hundreds of cars were already filling the small parking lot and starting to park on the road. On the other hand, the Convention Center was pretty big. It was a one-story tan building with a multicolored rock base. A large rock pillar stood next to the archway in the front and had a water tower-looking building on top of it. The archway was beautiful, with four arches across the center's front half and glass doors under them. I could see people lined up for almost a mile trying to get inside the limited-time event; luckily, Holly had prepurchased everything we needed to skip the line.
Pulling into the lot next door, we hopped out in excitement. Holly waved the tickets in the air and jumped up and down. "I cannot believe we are here. I have been so excited about this for months." she screeched, pulling her hair into a loose ponytail that hung low.
Smiling, I nodded my head eagerly. "I know me too." Gesturing my head to the building, "Let's hurry and get inside before it gets too packed, and we won't be able to move or see anything."
Grabbing my hand, she led me to the front door, past all the people in line, and inside without hesitation. Looking around the room, I saw a bunch of exhibits set up with all different kinds of creatures and fantasies. Tables lined the front half, selling souvenirs. People in mascot uniforms were walking around, taking pictures with the kids. And a small band was playing on the stage at the back of the room. Looking at the fantasy creature section, I saw Vampires, Faries, Dragons, Shapeshifters, and more. But the one spot that grabbed my attention was the Werewolf. Ever since I was a little girl, I have had a fascination with Werewolves. I would dress up as one for Halloween, draw them on my sketch pad, and even buy everything I could that involved them. Looking at this Werewolf, though, was like one I had never seen before. It stood maybe 7 feet tall, with a big muscular body. Its coat was light silver and had black spots all over its back, one of the most beautiful wolf coats I have ever seen.
As I admired the creature, I hadn't noticed that I had strayed away from Holly. She was calling my name in the distance as she tried to catch up to me, pushing through the crowd.
"Geez Mills, I called your name repeatedly; did you not hear me?" Holly said, coming up behind me a little out of breath. I could tell the wolf also entranced her because she quickly stopped talking and stood staring next to me.
The eyes of the creature were the most prominent feature on him. They were glossed over and amber in color. Staring straight ahead, a slight hint of something was hiding in them, an emotion maybe? Shaking my head, I had a crazy idea come to mind. Grinning at Holly, she looked at me with confusion.
"What?" She asked.
"Here, have this for a second. Take my picture." I said, tossing her my phone and running up on the stage next to the wolf. Looking around to see if any workers noticed, I draped an arm around the head and smiled as Holly readied the camera. As soon as I touched him, I felt a shiver beneath me as if he had been alive and felt the interaction. I knew that was impossible, so I ignored it and continued with different poses for the photos.
"Get it, girl!" Holly cheered, moving the camera around like a professional photographer. She had a big smile and a few strands of blonde hair hanging on her face. As she moved around for the final picture, I got ready in the best pose.
I moved to where I was now facing the wolf, his amber eyes peering into mine. Holly counted the seconds until she took the picture, and at the last second, I stood on my tiptoes and planted a kiss on his nose. A jolt of electricity ran through my body at the contact, making me jump away quickly.
Confused, I gave Holly a weird look before turning my attention back. I wasn't sure what had just happened, but it wasn't like a usual shock of electricity. This type of feeling felt good? It is hard to describe, but it was the best feeling I had ever felt, and I honestly wanted more.
"Hey you, get off of there!" Yelled a man in a black security outfit. He was a chunky-looking man with an orange beard and angry blue eyes. As he approached me, I smiled shyly. "What do you think you are doing? You could have broken something."
"I'm sorry, we were just taking pictures; it won't happen again," I muttered, suddenly looking at the ground, embarrassed as people around me started to stare.
"Well, take pictures on the ground where you're supposed to be. Don't let me catch you two doing it again," he said, pointing at both me and Holly.
Holly just gave the man an eye roll as I nodded in agreement. Stalking off, the man went past us to another unfortunate group of kids who earned his attention.
Groaning, I started to walk away, Holly falling quickly behind me. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing just felt completely embarrassed back there. Everyone's eyes were on me as they laughed cause I was getting in trouble."
She wrapped her arm around my shoulders, pulling me close with a squeeze. "Don't worry; they're all mouth breathers. What they think of you doesn't matter. At least we are having fun, right?"
Smiling, I shook my head in agreement, turning my head to glance back at the wolf I had a memorable encounter with. To my surprise, I saw that his head was now moved in a different direction, facing the way Holly and I were walking. His amber eyes peered at me longingly.
Maybe a worker moved him?
Yeah, let's go with that.
