Juliet fell asleep after being drunk.
When she woke up lying prone on the sofa, the sky was already grayed out, and she sat up decadently.
The wine bottles on the coffee table were staggered, and there was a post-it note and a wad of money on the table, which Karen left behind.
'I went back. You keep the money. Don't punish yourself. You should eat and drink.'
Seeing the warmth revealed between the lines in Karen's words, Juliet felt a lot better. She woke up sleepy and planned to clean up the messy living room.
But when she picked up the phone to check the time, she found a text message that she had received two hours ago.
Seeing the unknown number and the inexplicable content, Juliet frowned.
As expected, she understood it as a spam message. So she put down her phone and cleaned the living room. After getting out of her discomfort, Juliet understood that life still had to go on.
Regardless of feelings aside, the top priority is to get things done at work first.
When Juliet was almost finished cleaning up and returned to the sofa to sit down, her eyes fell on the phone again.
Thinking of the inexplicable text message just now made her feel uneasy, so she dialed the unknown phone number.
After a few consecutive beeps, just when she was about to hang up, a low, hoarse voice came to her ear. "Hello?"
Juliet was startled first and then reacted. "Justin Carlton?"
The man on the other end was silent for a few seconds before he said, "Yeah."
"You... uh, the text message sent to me was..." Juliet couldn't understand.
"JJ is waiting for you to pick him up in the kindergarten, and he refuses to go home." Justin's voice was calm, without any mood swings.
"Damn it!" Juliet cursed herself. She stood up suddenly after a few seconds. "Are you still there now?"
"Yeah."
"I'll be there!" Juliet couldn't care about the others, so she hung up and went out hurriedly.
In the afternoon, she just had a drink with Karen, and she didn't remember the agreement with JJ at all.
Along the way, Juliet was blaming herself inwardly. She glanced at the time that was approaching six o'clock in the evening, and nearly three hours had passed since JJ was over from school.
Juliet had no feelings in her heart. She broke her promise, just vented her emotions, and put her promises behind.
"Sir, can you hurry up? I'm in a hurry!" Juliet urged the taxi driver.
The other party glanced at her disgustingly from the car's rearview mirror. "This section of the road is blocked. It is the evening rush hour again. How can you ask me to get fast?"
Looking at the series of car taillights in front, it looked like a long way away.
Juliet glanced at the time and estimated that there were four or five kilometers left.
"Then I'll get off here!" After that, she paid and opened the door, and left.
"Hey, the change..." Before the driver's words fell, he saw Juliet rushing to the sidewalk next to them like a gust of wind and disappeared in a few strokes.
About half an hour later, Juliet rushed all the way to 280 fifth street, North.
Warm yellow lights have been lit, shining bright in front of "Star Kindergarten" in large letters on stone. Juliet rushed to catch her breath, and as a result, she was blocked at the security gate.
Juliet was about to explain the situation when she heard JJ's crisp voice coming through the air.
"Juju!" The security guard and Juliet looked at him at the same time.
She saw JJ wearing a tiny suit sitting on the edge of the fountain in the front yard, holding a small leather schoolbag in his arms.
He looked at her with bright eyes, and the corners of his lips raised because of her appearance.
Standing beside him were two male bodyguards dressed in black, standing meticulously, expressionless.
"You come to pick JJ...?" The security guard hesitated and couldn't help but glance at Juliet more.
This was the first time he saw a woman come to pick up JJ from school.
Juliet didn't answer him and ran towards JJ before squatting down to hug him directly.
"Sorry, I'm late..." She hugged him tightly, resting her chin on his little head, and sincerely apologized to him.
"I knew you would come to pick me up, hehe." Instead of blaming her, JJ was happy for her "keeping the promise." That tone fell in her ears and made Juliet feel more guilty.
For a long time, she has always been the one who was abandoned, and for the first time, Juliet felt that she was needed and trusted, but she did not do well.
Complex emotions lingered in Juliet's heart and finally melted into a warm mist covering her eyes.
JJ noticed that her emotions were not right, and the small body came out of her arms. He looked up and saw the tears in Juliet's eyes, which she forcibly resisted.
"Wow, Juju, your eyes are so beautiful. They twinkled like stars in the sky." JJ said, reaching out to wipe her tears.
When the soft hands covered her eyes, Juliet's tears fell uncontrollably.
JJ's innocence and kindness are like medicine, slowly healing her torn heart.
The sky was dark, and the lights illuminated the two of them.
A black off-road vehicle was parked on the side of the road outside the park, and the window of the car dropped slowly as he witnessed the tender scene.
In the car, Justin, who was sitting next to the window, had unpredictable deep eyes.
Jacob next to him was noisy. "Shit! These two people are like mother and son! I'm so touched and almost cry..."
Justin glanced at him disgustingly and asked calmly, "How do you know They're not?"
"Huh?" Jacob couldn't react to his words.
In the passenger seat, Dean lowered his head and pushed the glasses on his nose. The eyes behind the lenses were meaningful.
"No, Brother, what do you mean? You don't like Juliet, do you? Damn! She is a small wild model with negative news. For example, I heard that you can't even count her boyfriend with a pair of hands!"
Jacob's excitement couldn't affect Justin, and he then calmed down. "No! Don't you dislike women? I see! You love JJ, so you plan to sacrifice yourself to fulfill JJ's wish. I didn't expect your father's love to be so great..."
Before he finished speaking, Justin glanced at him coldly.
The discerning Jacob immediately shut up and made a zipper action on his lips.
"Let's go," Justin ordered the driver.
Before leaving, he never forgot to look at the kindergarten again. The closeness of the two made his eyebrows slightly raised.
