A young boy lay awake in his bed, staring into the ceiling without much thought, as he listened to the ticking of the wallclock that hung in his humble abode. The ticking sound continued as he lay in a state of listlessness and disregard.
Before he noticed, sunrays peeked through his window that informed him that morning had come and he could no longer lay idle in his bed. He got up from his bed, although with much reluctance and peeked at the clocked that pointed its shorter hand at 5 and headed towards his bathroom where he looked at the mirror and saw a young boy, aged 15, with striking features staring back, he had dark hair that rested on his crown, red eyes that had an air of mystery about them and hid his feelings from any prying eyes and a body that had developed muscles showing his daily involvement with exercise.
He didn't seem to care as he continued his usual morning routine and washed up. After he was done, he changed into his exercise clothing and headed downstairs.
He passed through the corridor to get his shoes from the shoerack and opened the door outside, as he looked on ahead, he could see tiny flying PKMN soaring about in the sky and a herd of wild PKMN taking rest under the shade of a tree.
He went out the garden that his mom had developed a habit of looking after and greeted the Vileplume that was taking care of the flowers, who replied back with a cheer.
He headed outside and started to run on the well-made path that had been made by one of the local' s Golem, that helped in making the roads.
He started to jog and soon got the hang of it as he started to increase his pace and passed by several houses at the neighbourhood. After running for a while he got to the outskirts of the town and reached the beach where the sunrise was at its full beauty, he slowly headed towards the waters while taking deep consistent breath, and took of his shoes and pulled up the ends of his pant so that they wouldn't get wet.
As his feet made contact with the cool water, he felt alive and forgot about everything else and focused on the feeling of the his feet submerged in the water.
As the rising sun cast a shadow upon his figure, the boy raised his hand and pointed his finger at the horizon where the sun and the ocan met, his normally emotionless eyes showing the tiniest hints of life at this moment, if anyone who knew of him had seen his actions, they would think of it as a miracle that the 'doll' had shown emotion at last.
".....Beautiful....."
His voice sounded cool and refreshing to the ears and his words that were directed to the scene in front of his eyes were honest and truthful.
After a few moments, he slowly brought down his hand and headed backwards to his house, the figure of the boy that was lit by the sunrays showed not an ounce of emotion, as though even the hints of emotion that he showed before were nothing but an illusion.
As he was heading back, seemingly unrelated thoughts sprang up on his mind .
He lived alone with his mother, who was his only family. He had never seen his father, leaving only his mother to take care of him, although for some reason, the government had stepped up and promised to take responsibility to repay his mom and give her financial and therapeutic support if she ever needed it.
Even since he was a child, he could summarise from the information he had, that his father was a soldier of sorts, and the PKMN War had something to do with his death, thus pushing the government to take the initiative to help out victims of the war who had last their family members to it.
Because of this, his mom didn't need to worry about not having enough money to send her son to school, or not having anything to eat on their plates.
As he was lost in his thoughts, he soon found himself back in his neighbourhood, when..
"Redd~!"
He heard a feminine voice shout his name, he turned towards one of the houses that he was closest to and saw a girl around the same age as him waving at his direction from the window of the second floor of her house.
He only sighed for a moment before waving back at her, her smile turned deeper as she disappeared from her window and seemed to be heading downstairs.
Red stood for a while, but didn't have to wait for long as she soon oppened the front door and appeared in front of him.
She wore a casual sleeveless shirt with a red skirt that went up to her knees and a summer hat that she wore on her crown. She had deep brown eyes that essentuated her charm.
"So, went for a jog, eh~"
He was brought out of his stupor when he heard Green's delicate voice.
"Ya."
He nodded briefly, before turning around and resuming to walk back towards his house.
Green only chuckled slightly at this and followed him, she slightly increased her pace so that she could walk side by side with Red.
Red only gave her a glance at he actions but didn't seem to mind as he seemed used to her actions.
They didn't speak much along the way but they were comfortable enough with each other as friends that they could have moments like these without it getting awkward between them as Red wasn't very talkative.
They soon reached his house, and they both went inside after greeting the Vileplume who took the initiative to welcome them back with a cheer.
He went inside and put his shoes back on the shoerack, whilst grabbing a pair of slippers for him and Green, who took it without hesitance.
"Had breakfast yet?", Red asked.
"Nope~", replied Green.
"I'll go make it."
"Ummm."
After having said that, he headed towards the kitchen with Green following closely behind. He ignored her and started making breakfast for both of them and his mom.
Whilst he was busy making breakfast, Green sat on a chair near the table and observed him, although Red knew she was staring at him, he didn't care as he continued with his craft, after a bit, he heard footsteps heading into the kitchen but didn't give it too much thought.
"Red? You're making breakfast again?"
Red replied with a nod, without turning to look back at his mother.
His mom only nodded and soon noticed Green sitting next to the table.
"Oh, Green, what a surprise, darling~", said his mom with a smile.
"Mm, sorry auntie, hope I'm not bothering.", replied Green with a shy countenance.
"Nonono, it's totally fine, rather, you're welcome here anytime you want~", Red's mom retorted with a slight pout.
Green only smiled at her childish behaviour.
While they were chatting, Red finished making breakfast and turned towards the both of them and saw that they were both seated with eager expressions on their faces which he could only sigh at.
"Hmmm, looks tasty~!", his mom said after taking a look at the meal that was in front of her. Green nodded with approval at her words, while Red took a seat facing them and looked at what he had made.
The breakfast consisted of plummed rice with miso soup along with some fresh fruits, and fried eggs at the side.
"Ummmmmmm~"
They both squealed at how tasty it was, and couldn't get over how good a cook Red was every time they ate what he made.
Red ate his food with skill and finished eating after a while, but as he was going to the sink to do the dishes, he got stopped by his mom.
"?"
"Its okay, you can leave this to me, hon, you should go get changed, after all, this is 'that' day.", his mom said with a smile.
Red nodded at this and went upstairs to his room to get changed.
"I'll go change."
"Sure~", Green replied whilst helping out Red's mom.
'Right', Red thought, 'Today is the day I get my first PKMN after all.'
