I have published 3 English novels, and all of them have topped the charts, but still nothing my dad cares about. He only cares about her weird wife, who gives no damn about anything but money.
But that's not what I should be caring about today, I need to focus on the date for now. Speaking of which, let me tell you about my 'THE GUY'.
I was 7 when I met Min Yoo-Song. We were strangers back then when he let the new girl, that was me, sit beside him in the drawing class and taught her to paint. Soon, this alliance turned into friendship and there was no day when I would not sit beside him while he drew by the lakeside. We completed school, high school after that, and started working, but things remained the same until that night.
*FLASHBACK*
"Hey, Ha-Ya!" Yoo-Song called out to me admirably, "How have you been?"
We were sitting at a coffee shop near my workplace, where we usually met up. He was looking incredible in the blue linen suit and that devilish smile.
"I have been great Oppa, how about you?"
We sat there chatting for a while when,
"You are coming to the school reunion today, right?" Yoo-Song said.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Did no one tell you? A high school reunion is planned today."
"I had no idea about this. Doesn't matter anyway, it's not something I would jump up for." I said recalling that my only friend, my best friend Ae-Ri will not be there beside me, so what was the whole point of going to the reunion?
"Yoo-Song, I-I can't" I stammered, "You know that I can't."
"Ha-Ya, I know it is hard, but you have to, you cannot isolate yourself from everything, Ae-Ri would have wanted the same. Also, I am going too, do you really not want to re-live those days we spent together?"
He was right though, I should not isolate myself, Ri-Ri would have wanted me to be happy, apart from that, there was no reason for me to stay home burying my nose in novels all night.
Weighing the pros and cons, I agreed to go to the reunion with Yoo-Song.
That night, I got home and saw my biological father waiting for me in the living room.
"We need to talk," he said and I already knew what it was about.
"There's nothing to talk about." I retorted and headed straight to my room.
I plopped onto my bed and closed my eyes, only to reimagine the number of times we had this conversation. My dad wants me to take over the automobile company he owns so he could now retire. But there is no way I would work my ass off for someone who does not even know my birthday. And me taking over the company would only mean that he and his wife would get to spend the rest of their life on vacations, now can I let that happen and be the only one in distress? No right! Bear with me please, you both need to suffer just as you made my mom suffer.
Soon after I hear my phone ringing.
