After meeting her father for the first time, Modesty didn't seem to say much. Her face was not as cheerful as usual. She fell silent again along the way.
"Are you all right, Modesty?" Gina inquired.
"Yeah." Slowly, the black-haired girl nodded.
"Did the braids irritate your bandages and make your head hurt?"
Gina tidied Modesty's wind-tossed hair before inspecting the bandage on her head.
"Not at all."
"Then why don't you look cheerful like that?"
"I don't know, Gina. I was just sad when I found out my mother died while giving birth to me. And my father was so depressed that he couldn't take care for me and had to leave me to someone else. Honestly, it breaks my heart." Modesty finally explained it.
Gina approached her sister and hugged her gently so as not to hurt the bandaged area.
"Aww. I'm sorry...but it's all over now. You're here with me. And mom loves you so much too."
