"She said you can stay at our place" Carl continued. "It is the safest place around. Nobody would know you are there and if you insist on working, we can arrange that. My mom would just drop you off and pick you up" "No! Today was supposed to be my last day at work. I was supposed to drop off the key. Someone else is supposed to take over from me tomorrow"
"Where were you supposed to drop off the key?" Carl asked her
He had promised Beth that he was going to be back early and he was already breaking that promise
"My boss' house. Just by the diner and you just took me miles away from there"
"I just saved your life and you can't go back to that vicinity. I'm guessing that your dad and his friends haven't left there yet and I doubt if they will until a few days. If he's after you, he wouldn't stop until he finds you and kills you. What the hell did you even do to him anyway that would make him want to kill you this bad?"
