Chereads / A Baby For The Billionaire Athlete / Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

As a man, Hendrix was caught aback by his daughter's strange confessions. Indeed, he has acknowledged the fact that Ava had sacrificed a lot for her, and that is the most essential thing, considering the fact that she doesn't quite know that their matter has been discussed here.

"I want you to promise me something," Sophie blurted out faintly.

Hendrix got bothered about what his daughter's claim might be, and as she raised his brows, all he did was listen to what Sophie had to say in the first place. Swiftly placing his hands on the lady's shoulders, the young man quickly made it a show to know what all these things are about and considering the fact that he was going to be nice to her, Hendrix went on one knee so that he could clearly bond with his little charming heart face daughter.

The thought of him describing her that way made the heat creep through her entire body. That wasn't necessary, but damn it, he had said it already, and staring at the child, all he could do is to make things work out well.

"Sure, cupcake, what is that you want me to know?" he inquired as he eyed the child wearily, eager to hear what he has to say. It might not be appropriate, but at least, something good must come out of it anyways.

Sophie took a large breath, and as she breathe the words out, she decided to tell her father her plans that dangled in her brain already as that was super necessary.

"Father, I want you to care for Aunt Ava, she has gone through a lot of pain in the past and it harms me so much hearing her cry from time to time," the child spat out the words that had started building up in her.

Hendrix's jaws dropped open as he couldn't bear tearing his gaze from Sophie's own. He still had the knowledge that Sophie is still a child, but then, at this age, she is quite reasonable enough to say when an adult is in pain or not. Well, she has done a very great job and he is going to talk to Ava about her considering Sophie before taking any steps of hers as it is evident that the child already knows more than is necessary, about her.

When a long pause passed, and Hendrix didn't say anything, Sophie felt like her father had not heard a single thing of what she just said, and thus, the urge to pressurize the young man started building up in which she said faintly,

"Daddy, please..." the child begged as she sniffed hard, fighting against the tears that were slowly building there.

Just seeing his daughter starting to shed tears made the young man's heart shatter into millions of pieces.

He doesn't want such a thing to happen again to her.

"Alright, that's enough now baby girl, I would take care of Aunt Ava," he said.

"You wouldn't let her go back to our hometown and suffer," Sophie added.

He didn't quite like that fact his daughter was wrapping him around her arms, but then, that seemed to be very evident. The worst of it is that he has to be speechless about it.

For a minute, Hendrix felt like Sophie was simply trying to tie him down with her words, but that apart, he still answered because he didn't know if it was to please her or what.

"Yes, Sophie, I promise I wouldn't let your aunt Ava return to where she is coming from and suffer. Am I good with holding up the promises then?" the young man asked as he glared at the young lady with precision.

Sometimes, he didn't quite know the kind of know how to deal with children, and he hated it so much, but then, he just brushed it aside as he led it to slip out aside.

There isn't much of a thing to discuss about yet, but whatever the case might be, all the young man did was to apply wisdom in this case, that is the most important part right now, and she so damnly loves it.

Even at this point, the young lady wasn't satisfied with her father's words, and although he didn't know why Sophie added in a very fragile voice,

"Wait, daddy, you aren't kidding me right? I mean, I hope these are not just empty promises that will just go in vain the moment you get full ownership of me, and then, push my aunty away, because I would rather go away with her deather than stay here suffer," the child said.

Every word that popped out of the child's mouth is one that will make it even easy to make the whole deal even easy, but then, the young man was purely having his daughter's words pierce his mind severally as though they were tiny little daggers assigned to slowly hurt him in till every one of his nerves decides toxicity till his patience remains dangling on one small edge of the rope, and probably even cease to exist.

Hendrix knew that Sophie was just a kid, but then, the words that left her mouth were one always filled with a companion, if Sophie was talking, it was either to ask a request or tell her dad the shocking truth as it appears. Well, he will have a very hard time dealing with that truth, and even though that is the case, he wishes the guilts that follow didn't have several daggers waiting to give him a mental lecture on this part.

"Daddy?" Sophie cried out when Hendrix didn't say anything.

"Yes, princess..." Hendrix called out as he lifted his head to face his daughter's own, but then, he was shocked by the appearance he had in front of him, it was that of his daughter, crying in a very subtle manner.

Just staring at the child made the tears stink the back of his eyes as well. This is the first time he is attempting to cry in a very long time.
