"So, you are saying, what happened yesterday was because of you?" Qin Meng asked, with a deep frown, as he entered the gates of Sage Monarch Academy. "And you are afraid they'd make things difficult for me again?"
"Yes," Leng Yueyan nodded. Her locks danced as the breeze rustled, teasing her delicate cheeks. "There are many people who aren't happy to see you with me. Until now no one paid you heed as you could not cultivate, but now you have bested others and entered the academy. And to do this without Martial Spirit is unprecedented and unheard of. I'm afraid that certain individuals won't be able to remain calm anymore."
"Aren't you too famous?" Qin Meng asked, speechless.
"But of course," Leng Yueyan said proudly. "I'm the only person in the entire Yorel with grade nine Martial Spirit. Furthermore, I have two of them. Dual grade nine Martial Spirit holder," she paused and turned to him and asked in a teasing manner. "Are you afraid?"
"And why would I be?" Qin Meng said and grabbed her soft hand boldly. "It's definitely worth it."
Leng Yueyan was caught completely off guard and became a little flustered and embarrassed. Though she never rejected him or pushed him back. They continued to stroll, hand in hand.
The passerby students were dumbfounded. Never in their dreams had they thought of spotting such a scene unfolding in front of their eyes. Who, in the Sage Monarch Academy, didn't know Leng Yueyan? She was an elusive, unreachable, and pure goddess in the eyes of the masses. No one dared to envision in the past that she would show affection for someone. Moreover, in public.
Never.
The spectators gossiped as they stole glances at the duo from time to time. Some were envious, some jealous, some hostile, and some looked at Qin Meng in admiration.
"I'm famous," Qin Meng chuckled and then ignored the spectators. Too lazy to bother with them. "Anyways, where are we going?"
"You need to collect your student badge and uniform. The academy would also give five hundred free Credits to the new students."
They arrived at the Logistic Department, which bustled with activity and noise. There were many counters filled with long lines. Leng Yueyan checked the surrounding and spotted an empty counter before strolling towards it. She eyed the student in charge and said, "Hello, we're here to collect the student badge."
"Hmm?" The student had his head buried in some documents so he failed to notice her. He said, "Didn't you see I'm busy? Go somewhere else."
"Oh, so this is what you do on duty?" Leng Yueyan sneered.
"You…" The student's anger flared. He hoisted his head and just as he was about to chide the speaker, he froze. " Se—senior sister Leng Yueyan?"
"Who else?" said Leng Yueyan in an icy tone.
"Wai—wait a minute." The student hurriedly took out a student badge from under the counter and eyed Leng Yeuyan and then a boy beside her. "May I know the name of the student?"
"Qin Meng."
"Qin Meng?" The student's eyes twitched. He stole a few more glances of the handsome boy and a frustrated look appeared on his face.
"What, is there a problem?" asked Leng Yueyan with a knowing smile, spotting his pale complexion.
"N—no, no problem," said the boy and carved Qin Meng's name on the badge. He eyed Qin Meng and said, "You need to drop your blood on the badge."
Qin Meng nodded and did as he was told.
"Huh?" Suddenly Leng Yueyan's face turned cold. She held the badge and turned towards the student in charge. "What is the meaning of this?"
"What do you mean, senior?" asked the student, innocently.
Leng Yueyan lifted the badge and said frostily, "A new student is supposed to receive five hundred credits. However, Qin Meng's badge has just a hundred."
"Don't take me wrong, senior," said the student, hesitant. "I'm just following the orders."
"Oh, who's orders?"
The student looked troubled. He hesitated and then said, "It was second in charge of the Logistic Department, Mentor Gao."
"Oh, Golden Moon Mentor Gao." Her eyes flashed, then a dazzling smile emerged on her face. She threw the badge back toward the student. "Make it five hundred credits, or don't blame me for blowing up this matter. For me, it's not hard to get help from a few Purple Sun Mentors. Even Mentor Gao won't be able to take the blow, much less a student like you. What do you say?"
The boy was already trembling when he heard about Purple Sun Mentors. He was just a normal second-year student. Even the lowest Silver Star Mentor could crush him like an ant. He couldn't even begin to fathom the strength of Purple Sun Mentors. He was here to earn a few extra credits, nothing more, nothing less. He gritted his teeth and changed the credits on the badge. Then he returned it back to Qin Meng with his first-year student uniform.
Leng Yueyan didn't make things difficult for the student and left the Logistic Department. The boy eyed Leng Yueyan's fading figure with a pale face and slumped in his chair, he felt completely exhausted.
He heard approaching footsteps from behind him and turned around only to find a middle-aged man standing with an icy face. He had a crooked nose and bald head. His eagle-like eyes appeared sharp and cunning light flashed inside them. "Me-mentor Gao." The student's voice trembled. "I'm sorry. I couldn't complete the task."
"Not to worry about it," said Mentor Gao with a calm voice. "I also never anticipated that Leng Yueyan would tag along with that cripple."
The student relaxed when Mentor Gao didn't blame him, but the relaxed expression didn't last long. Mentor Gao gaped in the distance where Qin Meng and Leng Yueyan had vanished and said, "Anyways, I need someone to clean the toilet of my house. You aren't so bad, start there working from tomorrow."
