Quickly dropping the boxes on the ground, Gwendolyn took to her heels, heading into the forest. She ran so fast that she suddenly felt the wind carrying her but the angry mob was relentless in chasing her, it might be that the wind was carrying them too.
They continued to chase after her, chanting "Kill her, burn her, get her, don't let her escape". She ran with every bit of might left in her. She repented of not having her breakfast. She just didn't know what was fueling her to keep on running, perhaps fear?.
Her legs were moving so fast on their own, you could picture her as an antelope and the relentless voice in her head which had screamed danger at first was now screaming 'run, run, run!!!. The emotion of being shocked was presumably, an understatement. She just couldn't describe how she was feeling.
From unexpectedly waiting under the tree to be chased, she wondered if the rumours about the man who was an ill-luck bringer were likely to be factual.
She continued to run, huffing as she ran like an ox. She was grateful that she had trained her legs to be able to run so fast, during the beautiful moments of racing around the woods with her best friend, when they were possibly free from their duties at home. It was not ladylike and they knew but it was their least concern.
Gwendolyn wanted to stop and then yell at the men chasing her, telling them she was no witch but on a second thought a bullet from one of the weapons in their hands must have pierced through before she would even attempt to open her mouth in explanation.
Oh, God!, her eyes widened as she stopped. She only stopped when she had come to face a large crack that demarcated the large dead forest, from where she stood. She was signing her death license by thinking of jumping over there. The dead forest was said to be inhabited and operated by slave traders, witches, deranged vampires and other hideous creatures.
She overhead the nearing voices of the men and she panicked. A tear dropped down her cheek. Was this the end of her life?. Won't she ever get to see her little brother and her best friend?.
" There she is". A voice resounded. Gwen was almost hit by an arrow but she dodged with a gasp. She wondered how she did that and how the men had gotten an arrow. She didn't see it earlier on any of them or probably she was not concentrating.
The final decision, she jumped over. As she rushed through the dead forest path, her feet caught on a log and she fell into the tall grass. She winced in bitter pain. She stared and stroked at the scrapes on her knee, lips and cheek, but it seemed there was not enough time to console herself.
"Get her!!". A voice yelled out loud in aggression and she flinched. Gwendolyn was frustrated. Wasn't these idiots going to let her die in peace over here, when she had already jumped over to some sort of abandoned forest?
Her eyes widened when one came into view and was about to jump over to where she sat. Oh, merciful lord. Her brain was screaming to run again.
She was about to stand and then make a run when she stopped and her eyes widened further in horror and she gasped. She saw a shady whirling cloud like some sort of tornado, it wasn't as tall as it should be and it didn't reach the sky, it wasn't wide and it was too dark, too dark that it screamed of horror, going nearer it. She would have said It had emanated from the ground because it had appeared out of nowhere, which obstructed the man from advancing toward her.
It was rotating with so much speed that it turned quickly to smoke with the presence of lightning in it. What was that? Her eyes almost fell from their sockets. This was the strangest thing, she had ever seen in her entire life and it was scary.
But Shocked Gwen wasn't the only one horrified, the rest of the people who were after her were stunned and were quickly taking a few backward steps.
The man who was already been faced by the black smoke was suddenly engulfed in it and they watched it begin to rotate, swirling around with a high velocity.
There was no sound made from the strange dark smoke although she could see lightning in it. She saw the man, engulfed in the smoke had suddenly turned stiff as a rock. Her instinct was already screaming for her to flee but she was too glued, too glued with horror to move and just like that... Blood began to flow like a river... So much blood and her eyes widened further.
She heard the man being swirled around, scream in an agonizing voice, which sent a chill, running down her spine. "Run!!!". Another man screamed. "Run, it is a monster! run for your dear lives!!!". The rest screamed. She would have questioned these men in her head, where the monster was but she was so shocked that she barely moved a muscle. She was rooted.
She almost collapsed when she saw the violently rotating smoke or would she call it some sort of wind, advance, circulate and then swirl around the rest of the men. It was raising the dust from the ground, the pebbles, fallen leaves and branches, along with it.
The smoke-like tornado finally began to cut them all up. A severed hand flew out from the wind, then landed where she had fallen and she shrieked with fear. "AHHHHH!!!". Her insides were trembling, then she jolted up but was quick to fall again, landing on her butt.
She patted her chest, huffing in and out, giving herself some seconds to stand again. She hadn't witnessed something as horrible as this, she was about to gulp that down when she saw again, a severed head from one of the men fly out from the wind and was heading consecutively to where she had sat, her eyes widened in terror.
