Chapter 2 - One (I could really use a boyfriend)

"…Shoot! It's 8 O clock, I'm so getting fired today." Mia murmured as she hurried through the busy streets of B-City. Few blocks later, she decided to take a taxi since she was already very late. Mia halted the taxi and got In. In there was another passenger who was very keen on sharing his ride.

The older man didn't protest and quietly smiled at Mia as she entered. He had a look of great importance, from his slicked black hair to his sophisticated dress sense.

"…Good morning Sir and thanks for sharing your ride." Mia greeted with a small smile.

The older man nodded with a small smile as the ride began, he carried an aura of haughtiness and Mia was surprised when he started a conversation with her.

"Running late for work?" He glanced at his wrist watch,

"Yes Sir." Mia chuckled nervously.

"Where do you work?" He pried,

"….Um Nowel Hotels and Suites…I'm a housekeeping staff there." She chuckled with embarrassment.

"Oh! The man's face suddenly lit up, "You must be in luck today, I'm also heading there, I have a meeting scheduled today."

"Oh." Mia laughed dryly,

"…So tell me, what's it like working there?"

"…Well, the pay's relatively decent, my co-workers are cool but some of the supervisors and the assistant housekeeper are the worst…" From there she rambled on and on about the pros and cons of working there as one of the lower staffs, and then she told him things you should never tell a kind stranger in a taxi.

At the end of the ride, the older man paid for her ride and thanked her saying her input would definitely help his meeting.

"…By the way, I'm Victor Colin."

"It was so nice to meet you Mr. Colin…"

After this, they parted ways and just as Mia made her way to the back entrance, a call came from Miss Lin; the assistant supervisor. Mia suddenly remembered she was supposed to provide the woman with her morning coffee.

She quickly answered the phone,

"….Good morning Miss Lin." Mia greeted in a high pitched tone.

"You!" She snapped, "Do you realize what time it is, where the heck are you and where's my coffee—"

"I'm really sorry Ma'am, I worked overtime yesterday and I was so exhausted and—"

"Mia! Do you realize how important this is to me? I need my coffee to start the goddamn day and you're here telling me how it's my fault you're late?"

"Miss Lin! I never said that—"

"Are you calling me a liar now?" Miss Lin retorted angrily.

"N....No, Miss Lin..."

"Good! Mia, my eyes are on you this time, I hope you do realize that I'm your one shot at becoming a supervisor, without me, you'll be stuck cleaning rooms for the rest of your youth, you realize that don't you?"

"Yes, Ma'am". She muttered sadly.

"Now get my coffee and get here ASAP." She told her.

"I'm on it". Mia replied as she quickly ended the call and hurried off to the nearby cafe.

Mia got to the cafe about two blocks away from the hotel. It was her favorite coffee spot that she discovered a week after she started working with Nowel Luxury Hotel and Suites. She loved it due to its unique calming smell of coffee.

After getting her a cup of coffee for Miss Lin, she decided to get for something for herself before going back to the hotel. She ordered a cup of cappuccino and walked towards the door but she wasn't paying attention, she was thinking about what Miss Lin had said,

'She's right, I'll be stuck cleaning rooms for the rest of my youth…If only things where easier, maybe if I came from a wealthy family or had a rich boyfriend, I'd be able to leave that damn job and pursue my acting dreams.' She thought.

"Sighs, I could really use a boyfriend...."

"Damn it!" A cool masculine voice suddenly yelled, bringing Mia back to reality.

She had spilled her cappuccino on the stranger's suit.

"Can't you watch were you're going? Look how you've ruined my suit! How can a person be so clum…"

And Mia suddenly zoned out. She couldn't hear anything; the only thing she could see was the charming stranger who was currently yelling at her.

He had silky, wavy, black hair, ocean blue eyes and pink thin lips that looked really soft and kissable. His pointed nose looked like it was specially designed for his perfectly symmetrical face in addition to his strong jawline just like that of a Greek god.

"How could a person be so perfect?" She wondered.

Her eyes then trailed down to his fine blue suit. That's when she noticed the stain on his suit, which brought her back to reality.

"And why the hell are you staring at me like that!—"

"Oh my Goodness! I'm so sorry!" She replied apologetically as she grabbed a napkin off the table and tried to wipe the stain off."

"Stay away from me!" He said angrily as he stepped further away from her.

Mia kept apologizing as the young man angrily walked out.

"Ugh! What is wrong with you Mia Anderson?" She said to herself, desperately tapping her forehead . Just then, her phone rang and she picked it up.

"H..Hello, miss Lin?"

"Did you get lost or something?"

"N.... No, Ma'am."

"Then where the hell is my coffee? Your shift started 30 minutes ago".

"I will be there in five...."

"How about three!"

"Yes ma'am". Mia said as she disconnected the call, quickly ordered another cup of coffee since the one she bought had gotten cold before rushing back to the hotel.

"Hey Ethan, you're here early, didn't you stop by for coffee?" Derin, his best friend questioned like a doting mum.

Ethan let out an exasperated sigh as he put his hands in his pockets. He just wished Derin could shut up.

"Damn! What happened to your suit?" He asked with concern as he noticed the darker patch on his suit. Ethan sighed before replying casually,

"Some clumsy little thing spilled coffee on me. And she wasn't even sorry. She just kept staring at my face. Heard her mumbling about getting a boyfriend or something. Tch! She'd probably kill him with her clumsiness." He smirked.

Derin stood in silence as he watched his friend speak.

"Goddamn jerk." He thought.

"Derin!" Ethan called.

"Huh?"

"I said when are you leaving?"

"Oh, in a day or two, I want to really explore and I don't intend to be back for a while so don't miss me much." He smirked,

"I never asked when you were coming back, Derin—"

"Tch! Cold blooded, stone hearted jerk, at this rate, you'll die single, you should have taken a break off work and come with me—"

"Have a safe trip, Derin." Ethan waved his hands dismissively as he walked away,

"Oh and ask George me the weekly report of the progress of our subsidiary groups. Nowel Hotels seems to be lagging behind".

"Whatever. Die with work!" He replied then walked off.
