Erland was silent for a moment. His memory seemed to be pulled back when he heard the name Abror. the memory returns. That is when he was a child, and when his mother died. An incident that will not be easily forgotten by Erland even though thousands of years have passed. Even though he was a child at the time, he still remembers in detail everything that happened that night.
"You?" Erland muttered, staring at the man in front of him intensely.
"How? You remember me?" asked Abror flatly. Erland snorted. He tugged at the corners of his lips and slowly moved closer.
"Of course. There are only a few people of my race's people still alive in this world. And you, too, are a living witness to my mother's death. Even your scent is still the same as before."
"Wow? I didn't expect you to remember me."
"Well, of course, I still remember. But by the way, what business have you come here for?"
"Where's your father?"
"I don't know. Maybe at home or in the fields. Well, let me take you to see dad."
"That's fine. But you'd better clean your mouth first. It seems the villagers don't know yet, right, if you're a werewolf? Don't let you return to the village in that condition." Abror pointed at Erland's mouth and hands which were still full of fresh blood.
The young man just stared at Abror coldly, then walked towards the river which was not far from him. Erland cleaned himself up before he returned to the village, to escort his father's distant guests. No one knows that Erland is the only werewolf in the forest. He often wanders alone in the forest. For him, the forest is a second home. His memories of the past are stuck firmly in his brain.
Especially all the things about memories with his mother who has passed away. Moreover, during the decades that passed, Erland had never had friends. He hates making friends. Because Erland realized who he was. For Erland, making friendships with humans is a way of wasting time. Erland realized that humans would not live long like him. They will age and then die. Meanwhile, Erland, who is an immortal, is even tired of living his life in the world. But because Endra is still breathing now, Erland decided to survive for the sake of his father.
They finally arrived at the village. Several times Erland greeted the villagers who accidentally passed them. It was not uncommon for Erland to engage in small talks, such as asking about their garden's harvest or other village domestic affairs, because Endra was one of the village administrators who is considered an elder.
Until now the village still upholds the customs of the ancestors since ancient times. Even the government system is not modern like other villages. They agreed to choose the village head and other village officials. Endra is one of the village administrators who is very close to the village head. Being a werewolf allows them to easily brainwash the villagers. This makes people not aware that the person they consider as one of the role models is an immortal being that they are afraid of all this time.
"Father, we have a guest." Erland finally arrived at their yard. Meanwhile, his father was busy chopping firewood.
Endra then turned to Abror. His eyes looked different. Endra couldn't believe he could meet Abror again after thousands of years had passed.
"You look old, Endra." Abror chuckled when he saw his best friend was doing activities like humans in general.
"Well, of course. We haven't seen each other in a long time, Abror!" Endra came closer and the two friends hugged each other.
Their hugs felt tight, indicating a very, very longing. Even when the hug was released, Erland could see the eyes of the two men in front of him were full of deep feelings.
"It seems you are too busy with your fields huh? I didn't even think that the man who was famous as a warlord in the past, actually became a farmer now."
"Ah, never mind. Shut up. Come on, let's go inside." Endra invited Abror into the house. Meanwhile, Erland was just left outside.
Endra's house is not too big. It's just comfortable to live in. Since his wife died, Endra has taken care of everything alone. His son, Erland, is even busier outside. Either walking around the forest or hunting wild animals. Even until several decades ago, Erland still liked to hunt vampires that had entered their village. Erland's ability can't be doubted. He inherited his father's talent. Because in the past, Endra was a knight in his pack. He and Abror are great fighters.
"Fighting?" Endra's voice from inside the house was heard by Erland. The young man who was originally about to leave was discouraged and instead chose to eavesdrop on the conversation of the two men inside.
"Well, there is a pack that has been our enemy for thousands of years. Since you chose to leave, they started attacking us. Some of us have died. Only a few are left. Our house is destroyed, Endra! , then I'm sure they'll find you soon enough."
Endra was silent for a moment. His mind was racing. He was confused and also worried about what Abror said.
"Who are they? Why did they do that?" "Out of revenge. You know, their leader is Stefan?"
"Stevan?"
"Well, Stevan. The pack we destroyed in the past is seeking revenge. We killed the 'Mate', didn't we?"
"That mean Stefan has created a new Pack?"
"Well, you're right. They numbered in the dozens when I saw you then, and I'm sure they've added more by now."
"Then what should I do?" Suddenly Erland, who was eavesdropping, dropped a pile of firewood that had been cut in front of the house. This distracted Endra and Abror's attention.
"Erland? I don't like your eavesdropping hobby." Endra screamed a little for his son to hear his warning.
"Oh, what a fool!" Erland cursed himself for his carelessness.
"Come in!" Indra ordered firmly. Erland slowly started walking inside. The two men who were involved in the discussion stared at Erland sharply. But before long, Abror chuckled, seeing Erland look like a thief caught off guard.
"When I see him, I remember you when you were young," said Abror to Endra.
Endra did not respond to Abror's words and only focused on his son.
"Why are you eavesdropping?"
"Hm? I... Just wanted to know, what's the reason that guy came to see us again." Erland pointed at Abror who was folding his arms in front.
"Then? What did you hear?"
"The enemy. You have to go help them. But if you don't want to, let me fight on behalf of you!" Endra and Abror looked at each other.
"No! You must stay here to look after them all."
"But father...."
"Let daddy go!" Erland glared at his father. He didn't expect that Endra would come out of his nest and return to the battlefield as he did before.
