I rushed downstairs, fully dressed and ready for school, but then I heard noises.
"Vanessa?" I called getting down, she was with a middle-aged man I have never seen before but by his dressing, I knew he was the electrician as well as the badge imprinted on his overalls.
"Oh Emma, this is Hank, he's the handyman around here," Vanessa said in a giggly tone.
"Hi Hank,"
He smiled. "You must be Emma, your aunt talks about you a lot," he said, I just nodded. My school bus horn came through.
"Gotta go," I rushed to the door.
"Bye!" Vanessa said.
On my way to the door my eyes caught the red umbrella, I licked my lips. It wouldn't hurt to give him back if I saw him.

*School Bells*
I opened my locker and took some textbooks I needed.
"Emma!"
I jolted, my books falling off my grip.
"Woah easy," Owen said, chuckling as he helped me gather my books.
"Sorry, it's… just that you called me all of a sudden"
"Hmm seems like you don't get your name called often"
"Not really", we both hoist to our feet. "Just my mom, my aunt, and I guess you now"
"Oh," he raised those thick brown eyebrows of his. "What about your friends from your city, bet you got tons of friends"
I licked my lips.
"Oh"
I nod.
"Well, that's disappointing, I mean who wouldn't wanna be friends with you?"
I blushed. "W-Well I'm not much of a friend type," I said, placing my books in the locker and grabbing the ones I needed.
"I doubt that," he said with a grin, I just forced a smile. "So about yesterday, I hope you got home alright? I was worried"
"Yeah I did"
"Sure?"
I nodded, his eyes trailed to the umbrella inside my locker, and he smiled. "You came prepared today huh?" he pointed out.
"Actually, no, that's not mine…" I paused. "Fuck I forgot to take MY umbrella" I muttered under my breath, talk about being dumb.
"Well lucky you, so who's the good Samaritan?"
"Unfortunately I don't who he is"
"He?"
"Yeah but I'm convinced he schools here so I was hoping I would return it" I shut my locker.
"Well I hope you find him," he said. At that moment the school bells went off again.
"You got Bio?"
"No I choose Chem, I'm not really into dissecting stuff" I pushed my glasses slightly and he chuckled.
"Okay then, see you after Chem?"
I just nodded as he walked past me. Owen was really nice, too nice if I were to put it, but I was glad I could talk to someone. It was nice for a change.
On my way to class, a deep shiver ran through me and my teeth chattered slightly. It was just a brief rush, I tried to convince myself it was a breeze from the window but in the back of my head, I doubted that. Back to walking but I was slow this time, my heart slamming loudly in my chest, I didn't understand the sudden rush but I forced my feet to move and I did, getting closer to my class and others walking in, I followed.
"Emma Adams?"
I gasped faintly, snapping out of a mini trance. I just stroked a nod and she handed me a handout, it seemed like she was giving everyone a handout but she really didn't have to call my name.
"Okay every year you are teamed up in practical classes, so," she said, her eyes fixed on the paper.
"I think Dace will be your partner" she pointed to a seat and I followed with my eyes and my breath caught. My green orbs met with hazel ones. It was him! And I had the same practical class as him! That means he wasn't in Senior year but rather my year and my classmate! It was all too much to take in.
