"You can do this," I tried to steady my heavy breathing as best I could but so far so good I wasn't doing a good job at it. I'm practically unmoving like an idiot and not blinking for over a minute. "It's now or ever Emma," my nerves skyrocketed and I was on the verge of having a mental breakdown. Calm down, calm down. I mentally chanted to myself, squeezing my eyes shut.
This is not the end of the world, this is just a step. A huge step, what's the worst that can happen? I don't want to jinx it but I needed the boost.
The sudden knock on the car window snapped me out of it with a jolt. I gulped, pressing the button, and the window slid down slowly. The security guard pushed his hand against the window edge, eyes scanning me with quiet suspicion.
