This had to be the most awkward dinner I'd ever been to. The dinner with Dace's parents years ago didn't rival this, at least we talked even though I wanted the floor to swallow me any moment but presently no one had said a word for over an hour, even as different cuisines were dropped on the table and when we were left alone.
I turned to Dace at the head of the table, willing him to look at me and sort out this mess but it seemed like my mate had other plans.
"It's nice to meet you finally, Mrs. Adams"
"Oh please, just Vivian, you seem familiar with my sister already," my mom said but for a weird reason she seemed to be enjoying this. What is she up to? I thought—maybe I don't know—she hated Dace?
"Ha yes, Vanessa and I go way back"
Vanessa rolled her eyes before taking a glass of champagne.
"My most fun memory was when she screamed at me to leave when Emma was in a coma"
